Ok cool. I only have 30 days and I don't want to go back to my HTC Touch "lock up 5-6 times per day" Pro. When I have had this great phone for 3 days and haven't had one lockup yet.

Do I have to $35 per phone to return it?

I order these phones on Saturday they arrived Tuesday and on Thursday they are no longer available. Amazing.

I still get Windows XP OEM at my local computer store and it a 9 year old OS.

We have drifted off topic gang. This is about Froyo and the Motorola Droid.

Kindly stay on topic. Thank you.

would it help if i said that Froyo is supposed to come pre-installed on it?? just kidding!! sorry for the off-topic tangent...

i actually do have a question about Froyo, and tell me if this isn't the proper place - it seems that Froyo will include tethering and wifi hotspot, which will cost an extra $20 per month. i'm not so much concerned about the hotspot issue, but i have been tethering for a while now with my droid, using Easy Tether app, without any extra monthly charges. will Froyo now not allow me to do so??

I'm a bit confused about that myself. I have 2.2 installed now but I don't have a need to tether so I've never used it.

Everything I read says 2.2 does, but who knows what Verizon will do about it?

Sorry for the poor answer.

The app will still work, just remeber you are breaking the TOS by tethering now.....if VZW catches it they will charge per mb.....

That's odd. Just talked to a Verizon rep and was told that Wi-Fi hotspot would be free since all we would be doing is tapping into our data plan. Guess it depends on who you talk to.

Please please I'm going nutts. Does anyone have any GOOD new as to when the froyo ota update is going to be release

You'll drive yourself crazy waiting for the update, happened already with 2.1

Just root and flash a custom rom, most are 2.2 and better then what is going to be released

I merged this thread to the appropriate area. The word on the streets now is indicating around 8/7 the START of the updates will happen. This is still rumor but it is from a reliable source. Do not expect to see it on 8/7, more then likely it will be a few days after that. OTA is done randomly, with a slow start and more releases as each day goes by.

paperdoll it was a story/people guessing. Verizon has never said Moto D 1 would get 2.2 or flash.

and cpjr, iphone does not and never will but we all know that verizon let us believe the D1 would.

and i should not have to root! but prolly will now!

Verizon sucks in this!!

google said quite plainly that the Droid would get 2.2 - they wouldn't do that just to blow smoke

it might take Verizon longer than we want, but we'll get it

Google also isn't shutting the door on Droid 1 getting gingerbread either: http://www.droidforums.net/forum/droid-news/56424-moto-droid-supposedly-getting-froyo-7-13-a.html

they wouldn't leave open the possibility of Droid 1 getting 3.0 if they were not going to push out 2.2...
