Moto Z Getting Oreo "In a Few Weeks"

So....there is something different about "apps" that create custom sounds versus custom sounds copied to the phone from a laptop.....two years ago. Interesting? I have used the same phone ringtone in the same Internal memory Ringtone folder since 2011 and never had a problem until Oreo. Thanks Google.

I had issues with that when I upgraded one of my phones. Maybe Bionic to MAXX? Don't remember, but it was a pain. This upgrade only reset everything. I simply had to go back and reassign the tones I wanted.

They are in my Ringtones folder brother. Have been there for almost two years. Android just doesn't see them

And the app I uninstalled and reinstalled yesterday has it's own custom sounds. Can't choose them, can only chose stock sounds. Damn it Google, gonna force me to FDR. [emoji15]

OK Google, you win. I rebooted and cleared cache again this morning. I just tried to assign my custom Old Cell Phone ringtone from the Phone app and....now it's there and it works. I'm going to bed. It was NOT there yesterday when I missed a call.

There are 2 Ringtone folders. They should be in this folder (path at the top).

Oh no! That stinks... Maybe it'll all work better, including your battery life, if you do have to go that route. Sorry Sajo... [emoji20]

I have cleared cache and rebooted about five times on Oreo. I will just say now for the record that I am not happy with Oreo....so far. [emoji3]

I haven't got any notification, yet. I'm leaning toward just keeping what I've got.
IF, you've updated...would you recommend a person to a FDR just prior to downloading the update and save ringtones/alerts somewhere else? Or, download and update, THEN do a FDR?
Thank you

I have not seen any upgrade notifications on my Z Play Droid either TxDoc.

My philosophy has always been... install the new OS (or system version, whatever it is) and see how it runs. If there are signs of problems, then backup personal data and factory reset. I know some say do it before, do it immediately after, do it before & after. I'm not saying that's wrong, just not how I have applied upgrades. I haven't done a FDR yet from 6.0 to 7.0 to 7.1 and never had any major issues.

You know I'm teasing about that battery life, right? There was a huge partial charge in that time period. [emoji39]
