Motorola Atrix Heading to Verizon Q4 2011

I think in answer to the question of why release such similar phones so "close" together lies in taking a step back from just the raw phone specs. The dock and the fingerprint ID features are fairly significant differences between the devices, and the real question is not whether we as individual users think them significant but whether VZW thinks so from a marketing standpoint for everyone. I could care less about the dock, but the fingerprint recognition has me very intrigued. Could this technology be enough to make headway into all of the issues with corporate users, Blackberry devices and the hoops and loops needed to asuage corporate IT and security folks. Interesting stuff. Enough to go to AT&T? Dunno, but certainly enough to let me wait a few months if true.

It would be sweet if Moto decided to unlock the D3. It would be an awesome upgrade path from my D1. I'm hoping it gets a screen size upgrade to at least 4" and has either Tegra 2 or OMAP 4. Does anyone know how the OMAP 4 compares to the Tegra 2?

So, I know I should let sleeping dogs lie, or stop beating a dead horse. And even not let a sleeping dog lie on a dead horse.......but is there ANYYYYYYYY word on this Moto bootloader compromise on any of these phones in the lineup?

Moto was just talking by releasing that. I don't know why people think they will actually unlock any of their phones. All signs point to it getting worse.

I believe that the Droid is the first and the last unlocked phone we will see on Verizon, unless Verizon miraculously gets a pure Google phone.
It is rumored that its Motorola's turn to put out a pure Google device since HTC and Samsung already have. And Verizon gets alot of Motorola's high end devices.

The thought process for me was: in response to the "buy elsewhere" gaffe Moto said it would continue to work with developers; the D1 is the only Moto with an unlocked bootloader. Assuming that Moto wasn't just blowing smoke (a HUGE assumption, I know), then unlocking the D3 bootloader would seem somewhat logical. BUT, i know this is largely wishful thinking, with no basis in fact, and even less of a basis in reality (given that it is Moto we're talking about)... ;)

You and CK can keep tinkling in my Cheerios, but I'm gonna hold on to my fantasy. And I'm still gonna complain when it turns out you're right! LOL!!

Ugh, maybe ill just have to bite the bullet and test drive a TB at retail until all these megolithic phones drop. Might be time I finally used a sense interface and a full touchscreen. Hmph.......I fear change.

This really seems the boat I think i am going in. Check out the TB. Give the rest time to come out and give he whole dual core time to get right. If Google keeps it up and puts out a Nexus device yearly I feel like others in that Moto will be next up.. maybe.. If that be the case then my 10 months will be up just in time from the TB.. :)

Miami is this the phone that you had (Thunderbolt) and if it is how was it for you? was it good or what

The question is whether or not VZW will get it. I'd be all over a dual core Nexus.

Good point with both going tmobile so far.. but worse case I will be ready to upgrade come the holidays again.. :)

I will subscribe to the theory of a Motorola/Nexus/VZW handset being next up.
