Motorola Droid Bionic Joins the Droid Family!

I don't understand why people think that the Bionic isn't that good... The Atrix has 1 GB of RAM sure but only 512 MB of it is for the phone's usage while 512 MB for the Webtop OS.

This means both phones will be running 512 MB of RAM. Bionic has the advantage due to the fact that its RAM is DDR2.

Now on to Webtop. I don't find any use in Webtop... most people that run around with their laptop are going to a place where they can access internet. Work, cafe, someone's house, etc. So having a Firefox browser on a laptop dock seems pointless to me.

LTE from what I hear (I don't care too much about how fact different 4Gs are) is faster than At&t's 4G.

I think a lot of people are overacting/not being logical about the differences between Atrix and Bionic.

If what you say is accurate, then they are virtually identical.

Its not that people are overreacting to anything, people are just voicing how they feel about VZW or whoever next product. It's what keep threads like this going. When it's all said and done everyone who is criticizing will wind up buying one of these devices.

A) I think AT&T needed an extra selling point (for several reasons), and probably offered more for the Atrix

B) The docking station is basically a legal way around tethering. It's less of an issue for AT&T which has a 2gig cap, but I doubt that VZW was excited at all, to put it mildly, when they saw that capability.

I've read at a lot of places that the Atrix has DDR2 so where's everyone getting info that it doesn't have DDR2 and the Bionic does (I know the Bionic does but I'm not sure about the Atrix)?

Great specs, but the phone itself, the hardware is ugly. Also I'm not a fan of locked bootloaders+moto blur. I'll be waiting for the next dual core phone. :)

I highly doubt that 4G for vzw will be unlimited and if it is it'll prolly be as expensive as a normal talk plan

My money is on $30 for 5gigs, $60-$70 for unlimited. They might even sneak in a high-tier at say $45 for 10 gigs.
There is no way they would charge more then double the cost of a 3G unlimited plan for a 4G unlimited plan.

Agreed. I would expect an extra $10 a month charge for unlimited 4G.

I agree on the extra $10, but with 4G who knows, they may cap it at 5, 10, or 15GB.

Here is a question. If the bootloader is locked, would you all look around at other phones? The LG Optimus 2x perhaps? If the specs are pretty close, would an unlocked bootloader help make your decision to go with one phone over another?

I am still going to get this phone... I am not going to root my phone so it doesn't matter to me if it is locked or not!!!!

For android, any device, I want root for AT LEAST THIS REASON:

FREE WiFi Tether

Perhaps the newest generation device will have the 'mobile hotspot' built in, but I feel this will be tied to service.

FREE WiFi Tether, please...

That is exactly what I would like to know also. People are picking a choosing sources as "confirmation" of one having and the other not, when there are countless amounts of videos where the demonstrator says the Atrix has 1 GB DDR2 RAM (not to say this fact). Guess we'll have to wait and see.

The people saying the Atrix does not have DDR2 RAM may wish to check out the following:

So far every Moto device with a locked boot-loader has been rooted. I think you are safe.

Thank you very much. I don't even know how the mix up started in the first place. People are so desperate to find a fault with the phone (in comparison to the Bionic), they started making things up? They are both great phones in their own way, but don't make stuff up. Next time I use the Atrix, I should check if Android recognizes the whole 1 GB instead of this half and half business I hear people talking about also.
