Motorola Droid Case Reviews

solar powered charging case

Has anyone heard any talk of a solar powered battery charging case? I hear they have them for the iphone... would REALLY love one for my droid 2.

droid covers & cases review

If you go into a corporate Verizon store in the back behind the support desks or around that area are sale items, if not you have to ask for them. They change stock & discount items that are not selling @ their store. I got my pink silicone cover for 5 bucks and magnet flip top leather case for 10 that way.

Like the cover, love the case, but. Cover is difficult to get off and is a very tight squeeze for the case, so I took off the cover in favor of the case, don't like it bcuz I tend to drop things!

Thinking to stretch the leather somehow to use the cover too. Generic screen shields are ok but my problem is too dry of finger pads, even with reg screen, have to switch fingers all the time, anyone have suggestions?

please help with case decision

Hello everyone. I am new here, and have been reading several of the forums - my son is getting a Droid X soon (when I order it...) and it is the first Smartphone in the family. So, I am trying to do my research - into extended batteries, cases, covers, screen protection.

One thing that has me confused - is how some of these cases work with the slide out part - that exposes the keyboard? does the case need to be removed?

My concerns are dropping the phone and scratching the screen. I had pretty much settled on a brand of screen protection, but now that I read more about cases, it has just confused me - probably the too many options syndrome. I am also waffling about the extended battery and how that affects which cases fit.

Please help me! Thanks!

The Droid X doesn't have a physical keyboard. Are you talking about the Droid 2?

And if so, the case is basically going to have a rubber bumper style part of the case that covers the face of the screen, right around the edge, allowing you to still slide it out. Not sure how close the Droid 2 is to the Droid, as that's what I have. Then the back of the case encloses the back side. I know they have an extended battery for mine (seidioonline.com), but not sure about others.

Oh dear. Guess my research has not been as good as I thought. We saw the Droid 2 in the store, and when researching online, I found the reviews said the Droid X was better, and did not realize it does not have a keyboard. I need to check with my son to find out his preference.

Thanks Mike, for pointing this out!

Xaneth, thanks for helping me understand how the cases work!

Otterbox Commuter Series and Defender Series

Hi all!

What is the difference between these two, besides the price? Specifically, I am curious about level of protection, but other features are also of interest.

It seems the Commuter series has a stick on screen protector, but does the Defender series offer any screen protection, or do I need to get a separate screen protector if I get it?

Thanks for your help!

And if is going to use it alot the D2 has a better batt and even better if u get the ex. Batt as well so keep that in mind 2

He seems to have his heart set on the Droid X, and I can't dissuade him - but I will mention the batter thing to him.

Thanks!

It depends on how you handle your phone. I usually have a case on mine when at work, but I hate the look of it, so I rock it out of the case at home or when I'm out. I've dropped it countless times and it works fine. The glossy black finish shows knicks pretty easily, though. Overall, it is a rock-solid design. The glass frontplate resists scratches, and the metal body keeps the components safe, even though the battery cover flys off every time I drop it. haha.

well it really comes down the usage and how big of phone he wants and a physical keyboard....other than that you will b in good shape for sure

It sounds like you are pretty lucky. Can't say the same for my son, so I am trying to hedge my bets against having to replace this before the 2 year refresh with Verizon comes along.

Thanks for sharing your experiences - it really does help a lot to hear from people using the phone!

He hates to shop around, and will at a certain point just say, "get this one," which you can probably tell is the opposite of the way I shop. It it were me, the Droid 2 would be my choice - I would want the physical keyboard.

But, I have made it clear to him that whatever we get, he's stuck with for 2 years, so I'm covered... 8-) At this point, it is now down to which case and screen protection to get for it. Gosh, but he hates the way I shop..... LOL... Just the perils of being queen of the Exchequer!
