Motorola Droid Pro

Apparently some info on a new Motorola 10" tablet being released with 3.0 in November just came out. Doesn't it seem somewhat unlikely that they'd release the X, Droid 2, and this tablet all within a few months of each other?

Yes it is very likely because each one targets a different groop of people. That way they get more customers at once and I think that alot of people with android phones are going to want a android tablet.

What I meant to say was the X, Droid 2, the tablet, and the Pro all within a few months.

The part that seems odd is the release of two high-end phones, then a couple months later releasing a phone that makes the others completely obsolete. It took what...9 months for the X to be released after the original Droid, and now suddenly they're coming out every month hah

The pro is rumored to come out during the holiday season so it would be 3 months difference. Also there is talk on the Howard forums that it may be able to use 4g.

That's the interesting part, because VZW said LTE would come out in Q4, and that handsets would be available in Q1. That would seem to indicate the Droid Pro WOULD NOT be LTE compatible, unless VZW won't have it until Q1 (which might make sense because the Q4 release is an old, old rumor).

After talking to a Verizon Rep at my home store, he said phones and LTE services would be rolling out around Thanksgiving. He said that a limited release would happen then and around Q2 2011 LTE service would roll out to everyone, but the phones will start rolling out in November. All just speculation but just a little more info on this.

As for the phone, I am a D1 owner and would kill for this phone. Was thinking about the D2 when its released but I think im just gonna wait for more info on the Pro.

Thanks for the update!

I'm anxiously awaiting the Pro and LTE, as well. Although, if the Droid Pro has a physical keyboard it might be a big turn-off for me. With Swype I have no real need for the keyboard and don't want the extra bulk.

Got my Droid this past January, so my early 1yr upgrade wouldn't be until 2011, anyway. Going to be an unhappy camper if they don't offer early upgrades for the Pro.

Same here I actually found the DROIDPro a few months ago when I was looking for DROID 2 info. As soon as I read the specs for the DROIDPro I was hooked.

You won't be the only one I got my DROID on January and I'm really looking forward to the DROIDPro. But big red will probably do the same thing they did with the DROID X.

Oh, I'll raise a fuss which judging from this thread appears to be effective. Plus, I'm a "high value" customer, I think, since I've been on VZW for about 7 years and now I'm on unlimited minutes.

But if LTE is not in my home coverage area (but I live in a major city I'd expect to have it) I'll stick with the Droid 1.

I am a big fan of swype too, it is really the best keyboard but there is nothing like a physical keyboard to type a long text or email. But I dont think the keyboards add TOO MUCH bulk to the phones to where it is unusable.

But I am sure, just like the X, they will offer early upgrades for this phone. Surely they wont make you wait for the best phone and the new service if you're already a smartphone owner.

Another quick thing i asked him about was the tiered data plans. He said to me that they are all but confirmed but no set deadline to be rolled out, but he did say that the word is that if you already have a unlimited data plan then you get to keep it once you renew your contract. Only new lines will be put to the tiered plans once they roll out.

I'd like to place my vote for the physical keyboard. I use mine all the time. I like to be able to see page I'm typing in. I hate the virtual keyboard input box. I want to see the context in which I am typing.

I was a Window Mobile user for 10 years. I would change phones every 8months or so. I finally got frustrated with incremental improvements and came over to the robot with the D1. I've had it for about a year now and it's the first phone that, even after 8 months, I don't see anything out right now that will make me want to switch.

Until now...my threshold requirements:
  • Physical keyboard.
  • >= 1gb ram
  • >= 1mhz processor

If the Dpro meets this, I'll by it on Launch day.:icon_ banana:

Agreed. No interest in the X or D2 for incremental upgrades. I consider LTE a bonafide, worthwhile upgrade. A good camera to take pics and video would be a very nice bonus, but not something I've had a need for.

More ram would be nice, and I would require at least 1gig ram to upgrade, but by itself it's not enough as I feel like I've finally made enough tweaks to get everything running smoothly within the 256meg constraint. Speed? I'm running 1-1.2ghz and the speed issue is 3G, not the phone.

Looking forward to getting some real info on this phone. Casting my vote for a physical keyboard. The X and d2 aren't enough of an improvement for me to upgrade. I purchased the Droid 1 outright so i am eligible for upgrade now.

1ghz or more
1gig of ram
physical keyboard
front facing camera
4.3" screen
LTE would be great but my area will probably get it last anyway

dont care what OS version it ships with as long as they update it within a reasonable time

waiting for the pro is difficult until it's leaked that this phone will be an LTE phone. Specs alone are great for the pro but the X is available now, even though it's not a super leap ahead of a rooted og droid.

Ditto on the physical keyboard.

However, don't you mean 1ghz not 1mhz processor?
