Moto's Bionic is Dead?

I just wanted to get locked into the 4g unlimited plan before it went tiered and really wanted the Bionic. Now thinking about just getting a TB, but don't want to settle either. I've been due for an upgrade since Feb and am getting impatient. I'm not a heavy heavy data user, so I'm not even sure how much to worry about unlimited data and have no idea what kind of prices to expect once it goes tiered. Torn between locking in now or sacrificing unlimited data and waiting longer for the Targa.
Suuperfie get the TB, you may like it afterall. Return it if you don't within the return period. Regading the LTE you can always switch to Sprint where they have unlimited all across the board. I am on vacation in Houston, Tx for a few days and vzw has LTE coverage here. At home in Cali their isn't so I amgoing to buy the TB just to play with it for awhile then take it back. Hopefully the return period will hold me back till we hear solid news on the bionic.

I dont know what your opinion is on this device but have you considered the Charge? I know it is Samsung but they have also said that they were going to be keeping their phones unlocked also. Thought Id throw that out.

Getting the Thunderbolt was the best decision I made. I was going to wait for the Bionic, but decided not to. Now I'm strapped into unlimited data and have a one year contract. Also, it's looking like the Bionic's future is unclear. Once LTE and dual core play nicely together, I'll be able to upgrade. But now that the one year contracts have ended, you might as well wait it out.

People ask me all the time “if you would just share this date, what could it hurt” and I consistently have to remind people that more then their desire for a new device comes into play when information is shared.
A recent story came out about the much anticipated Droid Bionic from Motorola being scrapped. I checked into it and yes there are legs to it, but the final nail in the “bionic” has not been hammered as of yet.
I try to assist people in making smart choices in their mobile buying and often in doing so I may at times share information that perhaps may shed some light in release dates and such but I will never tell someone that a device is scrapped till I get that information from the product manager and that isn’t the case… yet..

I made a comment in a poem that dual Core gold was coming after passover and many assumed that the bionic would be launching the end of April.. This is due more then likely to the speedy release of its “sister” device the Moto Atrix.
I was referring to the second quarter more then a set day as that was the expected launch window. But thats neither here nor there now is it?
So what is the deal now?
to be honest I have no clue….. thats right the panda for once doesnt have an answer…

are there issues with Motorola delivering a device that meets Vzw standards? yes.. does that mean that the “bionic” will be no more or that it will be launching with a completely different feature set?
Things happen in the mobile world and when your dealing with two types of cutting edge tech (dual core and LTE) issues are expected. Add to that the fact that this device has been in the planning stage for so long, that other more compelling devices and tech will directly compete and in some cases exceed and it isnt that amazing that some… ”retooling” may have to occur..
So there we have it boys and girls… I will say that the issues are mounting and the future is cloudy.. but hey at least its still on thhe MOTOROLA website.. 
and that Boys and Girls is the straight No BS answer from the panda…
I will update if and when I get something I can share or maybe a poem.. lol

but how much return on investment from this can you benefit? and can a Retool fix it??

This whole Bionic thing Have me wondering if The reason Why Motorola is doing this is to get away from Google and Start there own phone. Do you Gys remember this Article?

I really hope this isn't true. This has been the rumor now for awhile that Moto is in fact up to something...and unless they step their game up in the UI department, this does not bode well for the users.
Don't get me wrong, high end Motorola HARDWARE is excellent. The last two phones I've owned (Droid and Droid X) have been rock solid. But the primitive and just unusable garbage they call Motorola Blur that came with my X? Nooooooooo thank you!
I'd rather run stock Android any day of the week!
I wouldnt read to much into these rumors no matter how good the person spilling the info maybe. The bionic name will likley live on and im sure Moto is not stopping in there presuit of making there own OS which will likely be based on android ala MOTOBLUR. I read an article retweeted by bixie last night that android was the reason MOTO came back into the game and kept them from dieing. They arnt going to bite the hand that feed them and carried them along untill today. The will how ever devopt more time and research into making THIER android phones BETTER (in their eyes) via motoblur, just like HTC is doing with SENSE and Samsung with touchwiz. They are doing what google wants them to. Google could care less what software they load atop of android. They get paid on the marketing either way and if it runs android apps or not. I talked to the blackberry rep and the new playbook will run android apps and its because google makes it so easy to do so that it will. Granted blackberry is screening android apps alot better than google checking for flaws but its the same concept. Google and Andy Rubin always inteded Android to be open and belive it or not, Moto, HTC, Samsung, even RIM adding thier own software into android is exactly what open means.
Take everything I said with a grain of salt but just cus we here at the forums dont agree with what the OEMs do with android and thier phones doesnt mean the general pop sees it the same way we do.
I work in a verizon store that sees hundres of people and I bearly run into anyone that knows of these sites and what a bootloader is or even what Gingerbread is. We might not like what they do, but we are only a small fraction that gerates a small revnue ammount for Verizon, Moto, Google, ect. The mass public is where they get there money from and as long as the phone works as advertise, our cries of locked bootloaders and bloatware wont be addressed. Trust me I see it day in and day out with the people that walk in my store, clueless about what we talk about in these forums and yet they still buy.
As for the bionic, the one at CES is/was a sexy device with nice specs, but there are lot of people on here that complained that it only had a VGA camera, only 512mb of ram, or this or that, yet they are crying over something that we have no comfirmation of being true. If they scrap the phone from CES in favor for something that is more top of the line and they keep the same name, then fine by me.
They could release a phone that is less speced that works but my guess is that if they do scrapp the Bionic from CES, then the Replacement bionic will more than likley be better in ever aspec, (sexyness maybe not so much).
Debateing on rumors no matter how "good" the source is, is point less because we dont know what happens behind those doors at and these so called "sources" could very well be wrong.

Yes, I'll believe the Bionic is dead (at least the CES version) when it comes from Moto.
As for BMX, that post is almost comical. Love how he's backing off his predictions - "I was only speaking generally about a Q2 release"...."the Bionic may or may not be dead".
Pretty much all the supposed "insiders" and tipsters have proven about worthless over the last 6 months. I don't put any stock in any of these rumors at all any more. Rumors pretty much run the gamut, and some (such as BMX) even throw out multiple versions/scenarios or speak in cryptic generalities...so someone is bound to be right. Does make them any more reliable than the ones who aren't.
I realize site traffic here might decline dramatically if they put the kibosh on rumors, but for the most part it does this board and posters a disservice. People get all worked up over nothing. And it's not just phones, it's VZW tiered plans and everything else.
