Multiple phones - Root them, unroot them

I'm having trouble rooting my X with 2.2..

I get to the chmod 777 command and get an error saying the file is not there..

Unable to chmod rage*.bin: No such file or directory

I wish that's all it was, i went and checked and mine is in "download" i read through here last night, i was doing it wrong the first time without the spaces but i got past that and am now stuck on changing the file permission in the 3rd line...

Good thing my phone ain't messed up!

Sure is! Unfortunately, those who post here don't do it for a living and therefore we're not here to watch everyone's every single post and be able to jump up to help and reply in an instant, twitter feed sort of way, therefore sometimes the help may take several hours to come.

So, the only thing I see left out in the OP which _might_ have been mentioned in the thread is you have to have USB debugging enabled for this to work. That is why 'adb' is not found.

Don't know how you get there on the x, but on the Droid 1:

menu -> settings -> applications -> development -> check box for "USB Debugging" right at the top. Make sure it's checked.

good luck

Don't get me wrong, i know how forums and boards work, i run and own 4 myself, 24 hours is a long time to wait considering ive logged in here multiple times and seen several of the mods that moderate this section logged in viewing the thread..

No worries though, i got it sorted out..

Btw, it was exactly what you said it was with the USB debugging, i read a few threads about how the other PC scripts work so i figured if you had to do it with a program then you must have to do it using the Manual/Terminal Method.

The OP with the guide should be edited so people who are new to this stuff don't get stuck. It's a good thing i'm tech savvy

It's been suggested that the OP add that to the post, but with scheduling being the way it is...

It's been mentioned before about the USB debugging, but 15 pages is a lot to read. Glad you got it working! :)

And this is what make DF alot more friendly than other forums. Most other phones forums I've been to will only answer "Read. The. Thread. That problem has been already solved" whether the thread is 5, 15, 50, or 150 pages long.

I usually won't even bother with forums like that.. Forums were made to interact with one another.

is anything suppose to happen once I type "exit"? It just dropped to the next line (but without the # or $). I now see the application "Superuser Permissions" with a picture of a ninja but when I click on it all I see is a blank screen - like there are not permissions or settings. Am I missing anything?
