Multiple phones - Root them, unroot them

It could always be worse. You could be drinking what I'm drinking.

whats the second typing part it says

  1. Sanity check - Go into Terminal Emulator again and make sure you have a # symbol as a prompt. If so you are ready to proceed.
  2. mount -o rw,remount -t ext3 /dev/block/mmcblk1p21 /system
  3. cp /sdcard/download/Superuser.apk /system/app/Superuser.apk
  4. cp /sdcard/download/su /system/bin/su
  5. cp /sdcard/download/busybox /system/bin/busybox
  6. chmod 4755 /system/bin/su
  7. chmod 4755 /system/bin/busybox
  8. mount -o ro,remount -t ext3 /dev/block/mmcblk1p21 /system
  9. exit
i did the line 2 and it said mount-o not found is it a zero or an o? how about spaces I dont have all night to type this chit

what about the 2 new programs I have terminal emulator and astro I guess I should keep them, now I can use file explorer and rename the crapware to bak till the next update.
hopefully I will remember the move trick for the SU file, heck I actually sort of forgot where to move it from and to., TIME FOR A BEER

Terminal Emulator is a VERY useful tool even with Root Explorer, but Astro may not be needed. I like it, so I keep it, but that's me. :)

Enjoy the beer and I'm GLAD you got it working! :D

wtf root explorer wont let me rename the crappy apps even if I change it to R/W

reboot EDIT

it worked fine crap ware is suspended for now I wonder if I can copy the quickoffice apk on mine and put it on my wifes LG android

I wonder if I still have 2 SU's in the system, the reason I could not use a 1 click method,
if so should I remove one

Thanks Christim!

Thank you, thank you, thank you. I was ripping my hair out (what little I have left) trying to get my X re-rooted after updating to 2.2.1. Step @ Option A worked perfectly!

Thanks again.

Please help rooting

  1. cd /tmp
  2. cp /sdcard/download/rage*.bin /tmp/
I Downloaded the files for rageagainstthecage
Extracted them
Turned on USB debugging
Restarted my phone
Then went on the the terminal emulator the proceed with the instructions
I got through 1 and 2 with no problems.

Once I get to step 3 I get the following message.
chmod 777 rage*.bin
Unable to chmod rage*.bin: No such file or directory

I checked and the file is in my download folder.

I saw that a few others had a similar issue but they all were fixed by turning on USB debugging or restarting their devices. Any ideas? Please help.
