My Dilemma with the bionic i bought on oct 7th should i bring it back and wait

I am really enjoying my Bionic. It shut off twice when I first got it but that hasn't happened since. I don't use the camera all that much so it isn't an issue with me. Everything else is working just fine, no other problems; I had the OG Droid before.

I am going to buy my Brother a new phone for Christmas so I will be able to wait to see what the reviews are like for the Samsung and the HTC. He uses the camera quite a bit does anyone have any opinions on who makes the better camera in a phone?

Thanks

iPhone 4 / 4S will be the best for camera

HTC is a close second - their latest phones do a great job of taking great pictures very quickly

I don't know anything about Samsung's cameras, never had a Samsung phone

As much as I hate to admit it, despite the ability to take decent pictures, Motorola either doesn't put much effort into the software or just hasn't figured it out yet... Moto phones are typically the slowest and least likely to turn out good. And I've had a long line phones, so I'm not just talking from the experience of one or two phones.

There's usually a reason a phone is dropped to 1 penny.

It's usually not a good reason.

The fact is, there is zero reason not to test out what Samsung and HTC have to offer before buying the Bionic.

The Bionic will still be there for less than $100 bucks once the next 2 phones are out, you can always buy it then at a discounted price.

So I guess every phone that Verizon offers sucks because on Amazon right now, you can get them all for $0.01. With the exception of the iPhone of course, because they never put their phones on sale like that.

Amazon adds their own $250 ETF (on top of the carrier's ETF) in the first 180 days or 360 days or something like that. So the cheap prices don't come without some extra "lock-in".

edit: as said before, it's all marketing

Yeah they do. But it doesn't matter to me. I'll happily pay $10 ($240 over the contract) a month for the additional line to:

A: Get the bionic for a $0.01

B: Have another line with an upgrade capability to work with

So there is not ETF to worry about because I plan on keeping the extra line

Would I add a line like this AND pay $200-$300 for the phone itself, probably not. But the penny deal made it irresistible for me.

For those of you wondering, this penny deal (for any verizon phone, except iPhone) runs through the 17th

Oh I agree completely. If you plan on keeping the phone, it's a no-brainer. I was mainly responding to the post implying something was wrong with the phone for it to be offered that cheap.

Excuse my ignorance but ETF stands for "Exchange Traded Fund" in my vernacular.
What does it mean in "cell phone" speak ? Thanks.

lol, me too... CFP here... but in phone speak, it's "early termination fee" - kind of like a CDSC :p

Early Termination Fee

Basically when you add a new line, you're committing to a new contract. If you do what some people are talking about and cancel the new line of service, you'll get charged an ETF

My wife's cousin is in town for the weekend and she has the Samsung Galaxy S with At&t and her videos and pictures blow my Droid X and the Bionic AWAY. Her videos looked like they were taken with a nice video recorder and not a cell phone. She let me play around with her phone for a bit and I prefer it over the Droid X. I wish Verizon had the Galaxy S series, I would try out the new GS2 if we had that phone.

I also agree the Motorola Droid series has never had good optics, I didn't really understand just how poor they really were until playing with her Galaxy S1 and seeing the quality of her vid's and pictures. She can upgrade to the GS2 right now but she is so satisfied with her GS1 that she said she will wait until her phone stops working before she gets the S2.

Wouldn't it be $960 not $240?
Add the Bionic and you must get a $30 data plan. So it's $40/month.

No it wouldn't. He's adding a line (with originally a data package) to get the Bionic for a penny. He will then switch the Bionic to his current line and put a dumb phone with no data on the new line.
