My impressions so far of the Droid 4 leaked Android 4.0.4 ICS build (6.16.206)

I have been on ics for about 24hrs now and I have to say moto seems to have done this right. I am experencing some issues with rom toolbox restoring apps as well as not getting notifications when i get a text (in status bar as well as no sound) is anyone else having this problem. I did retain root so that is not the problem with rom toolbox

Hmmm, I seem to have no problem with the 3g Icon. I go in and out of 4g all the time.

I do have a problem with recording video. During playback of videos I record, I hear a lot of white noise that is unbearable unless you mute it. Lol

Was this issue ever resolved? How is the quality of the camera and video on this update?

I just learned that weptop does work via an HDMI cable on the. 206 leak. I was plugging it in to watch a movie and thought I would see if it worked. Its actually pretty frickin sweet the phone screen becomes the mouse pad. I have the bionic lap dock and can confirm that it works exactly the same.
So if you are on the leak and missed out on the bionic lap dock just get a micro HDMI cable and you will be good to go for web top 3.0.

Fyi: I bought the micro HDMI cable on amazon for less than $10 including shipping.

my battery life is about the same as gb. I get anywhere between. 14-24hrs depending on usage.

Just wanted to add that one other ICS feature I am loving is the real time voice dictation. It is unbelievably accurate.

Can you still go into CDMA Only? I NEED this to make battery life last all day when not plugged in.

Someone mentioned a 3G icon...what is that? Right now, I use the Networks menu to make the switch back and forth.

Screen shots would be nice. :)

And speaking of which, how does the Power > Down button combo work with the same combo to do a reset? Does it take a screenshot each time you reset?

I can only assume the screenshots I'm posting are where you would need to go to accomplish your first question. System Settings> More...> Mobile Networks> Network Mode.

If you'll notice on the status bar of these screenshots, there's a 4G icon. That will sometimes switch back and forth between 4G and 3G depending on where you are and how good the 4G coverage is.

As for your last question, the Power + Volume Down combo only takes about 2 seconds to take the screenshot, vs the 4-5 seconds it takes to reset the phone.

Yipes. On that last screenshot, there's NOTHING about "CDMA Only"!! Is there a way under THERE to not use 4G?

If there isn't, my phone will get less useful with ICS, as the 4G on all the time will suck battery life while not on a charger.

I am talking about MANUALLY going into 3G/CDMA Only to lengthen battery life.

I still have problems watching videos. Videos load but don't play and then the browser can't connect to the internet (the progress bar moves a quarter inch and stops) unless I forceclose it.

Watching videos through the Youtube app is fine, and everything else is fine too.

It appears CDMA Only is gone in ICS.

I found what may be a workaround, an app in the Google Play store called LTE OnOff. It goes into what appears to be an internal menu and gives you the ability to switch between 4G (GSM/CSMA auto) and 3G (CDMA auto).

It works great on my D4 with Gingerbread 2.3.6... I just hope ICS doesn't break it.

It is labeled for the HTC Thunderbolt, but it appears to work fine on my D4.

Why would they take away CDMA only, especially when LTE isn't universally available yet?

Tappin' and talkin' with Tapatalk.

Note: I'm not talking about the phone operating in CDMA Only. That still works as far as I know.

I'm talking about if the Global Roaming added in ICS takes that MENU option out of the Mobile Networks settings page, which at least one screenshot in this thread would suggest.

More on the separate thread I created for this topic...
