My Nexus vs Razr vs Rezound review.

Haha figured I'd call ya on that. Nice screenshots thanks. I spent too much time typing I didn't feel like taking any. What numbers do you want from the Rezound? I'll get them for you now.

The nexus should post faster speeds if they both in a good, great reception area , it has cat 3 lte tech, the razr has cat 2. The speed cap is also lower on the razr.

Its like using usb 1.0 vs. 2.0 vs. 3.0 and comparing the transfer speeds. Or a class 2 vs. A class 10 sd card.

so yea, its using the latest lte tech. But there is an area where the chip in the razr does better. Might not matter to some or most ppl or effect some or most ppl. Probably the rezound does better in this area too. It having the antenna on the battery door must help it too. Maybe a software update makes it better, maybe some folks have a bad device, who knows.

Its all a give n take, trade offs with the "big 3" in different areas.

I'm running a heavy alternate launcher on top of Sense, and I'd agree there can be some bad lag. We'll see what happens when I delete Sense, but it could also be as much GB as anything.

Only had the Rezound a few hours, but other than that I'll say the screen is amazing.

On mine I just installed scotts senseless rom with go launcher ics. Seems to be much better.

I have a question about the Razr. If I plan on keeping a phone for around 2 years (21-26 months), will Razr's battery die on me? I know that 3G phones can usually last about that long, but with Razr being 4G and requiring charge every day (a guy at verizon said about 200 charging cycles will do it), I'm concerned that its battery will lose capacity and I'll be in trouble. I did read that you can still somehow open the back, but I don't know if Motorola or battery makers would actually sell Razr batteries in the future because it's not supposed to be opened.

I have a GN right now and I'm thinking about returning it for Razr. I don't mind waiting for ICS for a while and I personally just prefer Razr's looks and its sturdy build. There also seems to be a general consensus that Razr has better radio and speaker, which is pretty important to me. This is my first smartphone and I don't plan on rooting it.

Your battery "should" last 2 years. If it doesn't the phone can be opened and the battery changed rather easily. No worries there. It's a tough choice to make because you are always going to miss something from your prior phone. ICS on the Razr is most likely going to be skinned just like GB was. Also don't really listen to the guys at Verizon, there is so much more knowledge here you will know more than them in a couple weeks haha.

So, for a casual user like me, would you recommend Razr over GNex?

Not that I can get an upgrade right now (which is probably a good thing), but I have been reading these types of threads and have no idea if I would get the Nexus or Rezound. I like the fact that the Nexus has cutting edge technology and the bootloader can be unlocked easiest and relocked if I have hardware issues and need warranty. On the other hand, the Rezound has better specs, is more setup for music, has expandable memory and seems to have better signal.

Rooting and romming is tops on my list since I love to flash a new ROM.

Motorola is out of the question because of all the music issues their phones have and the bootloader.

Rezound has better specs? I think it has a better gpu but the cpu in the Nex is superior. Each one has trade offs. I like the Rezound but I play with the Nex more. So nice to have choices! Also, something I forgot in my review, is that the Rezound can do voice + data over 3G as well as 4G. That might be important to some people.

Agreed. The nexus outspecs the resound. In the world of mobile chipsets it goes like this:
Exynos>TIOMAP>snapdragon

Also I wouldn't use golauncher on top of ICS. I found it to lag horribly. Stock launcher or a modified launcher such a nova is the only way to go. Everything else isn't optimised for ICS.

+1 on Nova. It's awesome and up to beta8. I used go launcher on the rezound with the ics theme. Pretty nice alternative to sense.

As a comment I wanted to say I *easily* get 24 hours of use out of my GNEX. When I use it really heavily it may not make it the full day, but normal every day use is not an issue at all. With my Fascinate I'd constantly be worried it would die. I can leave the house with 25% juice and still feel ok to go multiple hours.

I would love to see a screenshot of the battery use page when you get 24hrs... not flaming you it's just that the one time I got over 24hrs I was on wifi all 24hrs and my phone sat idle like 18 hours of that day... sync off, etc, etc...

just today for example here is mine with extremely low usage.. I do have full Google sync on, and I did download one app from the market and sent like 10 google voice texts screen for the most part off and when on set to around 30% brightness, wifi for the first hour or so then 3G the rest of that time.. even at this low usage rate there is no way i could make 24hrs..

Couple weeks? More like a couple hours! ;)
