Also hoping for more information before the pre-order. There are a few things that may end up being deal-breakers for me....
First and foremost....the battery. The Desire HD has a 45nm processor running at 800 mhz. From most of the reviews I have seen, folks arent happy about the battery life. Couple that with the fact that the slide load battery prevents use of extended battery, a 1.2 ghz processor may pose a problem.

Secondly (And I know alot of you dont care about this)...Is a front facing camera. I will have another upgrade coming on another line in Feb, and I will use this most likely on a LTE phone. That means I will pass this phone down to my wife, and I know for sure she would love to use the phone for video chat on business trips and such.

Fingers crossed for confirmation, and a Friday Pre-order.

Yeah I am in grad school there too (did undergrad there as well). I live out in Cary close to Apex.

Actually, you should check out his twitter, hes no "random poster who has no inside connections". The person that posted the Preorder post is completely random with nothing to back him up when you check his site. Besides, this device was delayed and obviously when Miami was being informed they thought it would happen.

I understand this is a thread about a phone that we're all waiting for and I won't pretend like I don't check it every few hours when I don't have something more important to do, but some of the people on this thread need to relax.

The vast majority of you have android phones and are just waiting to upgrade. I'm still on a feature phone (LG Dare) without a data plan and wishing I had the ability to download apps.

So that's my current situation. So now I'm asking you all; If this phone comes out, should I get this instead of the Droid X?

I'm almost certain that if it's delayed until after Christmas, I'll pick up the X because I'm sick of waiting for a new android phone for Verizon that's not a Samsung.

WOW. You guys need to chill. Miami's (trusted) sources at Verizon told him YESTERDAY about a 3g pre-order this Friday, so take it for what it is. Obviously reps are not going to say/know anything because they even made Miami sign a NDA. VZW doesn't want this information out let which is why it's been kept secret.

Stop complaining and just wait. I'm sure some of you will be pleasantly surprised.

Go to the store and play with them... Thats the only way you're going to get an idea of what you like. Personally I'd go with a Pro or D2W if i had to pick right now but I tend to use my phone strictly as a phone.

Why? its not friday yet.... another thing. the droid pro wasn't on pre order till 6am et. so if its 12:01am et and its not there... just wait. and im sorry, if i dont see pics from miami, ill be fine with that. whats two days?

Good points, but these forums also aren't a very representative sample. Valuable data, sure, but I don't think it replaces researching and understanding the 99% of customers who aren't obsessed enough to frequent these forums.

Oh I don't think it has completely reduced traditional methods, but I do think it has reduced them.
