Mysterious Device Now With November 23 Launch date

VZW has been trying to get his company to move away from RIM and to Android (not going to happen)

That's interesting. Doesn't VZW make the same money on a BB data plan as they do an Android data plan? I'm not sure how a corporate account would work, but maybe VZW figures they make more money if the user links their gmail account and goes after some extras (NFL mobile, VCast, etc...).

A lot of companies are using RIM servers to host their email. And it will take time for Google/Android to convince companies it's as secure as BB, if it's even there yet.

The security issue is the primary reason his company hasn't switched. But - I think Android is looking to crack into the enterprise business just like Apple has done. Phones like the Droid Pro and the HTC DINC HD are prime to do that. It seems like VZW is really going all in with Android phones.

Yeah, I'm aware of the concerns about security. The push from VZW is a bit surprising, though. I wonder if VZW plans at some point to offer their own "exchange" servers, if they aren't already. Although I would assume BB might have non-competes preventing that.

Will also be interesting to see what Google does longer-term. I believe they do have corporate gmail accounts and some other corporate services they charge for. I assume Gingerbread or IceCream (?) will really go after this with video teleconferencing. Pretty sure Google Voice (or perhaps Gizmo) also has the ability to teleconference, though I haven't played with it. None of that right now is anywhere near being user friendly even for me, much less corporate drones who don't have the time to figure it out.

Point being, I think we will and are seeing a shift a shift to a focus on corporate by Android. Makes perfect sense. Might also see more of a push to Google to monetize that. Nice business model - get the end user clamoring for Android because of all the free google services, but the corporate services will have a fee as companies are less price sensitive and the competition charges an arm and a leg. They can still offer a price savings but it won't be free.

Really, how awesome is a google voice number for corporate use? You can set it to forward to your cell, office phone, etc. Plus, you can have customized greetings. Transcribed voice mail would be a big deal, too, if Google can ever get that up to par. Only thing missing is a fax feature. But I think it will take time for Corp IT to get comfortable with that technology. People taking work home with them and being connected 24/7 is really a paradigm shift.

Ok, I just called Verizon and spoke to a nice lady. I asked her about this phone and of course, she has not heard anything about it. But she did give me a model number for a HTC phone that is supposed to come out around the 23rd. it's ADR63005LCD. Now I’m not sure if that’s the current model number for the Original droid incr. She kind of seemed clueless about it. Our best bet is if you have an original dinc please check and see if your model # is either the same or different that way we know. Oh and remember, htc improved the dinc screen. So this could also just be its newest model number. Thanks.

i thought they down graded from the same screen the Galaxy S has to SLCD? which is better?

Miami,

where o where are you today?
why did you leave me here all alone?
I searched the net over and thought I found a new update
You haven't posted
and pPpPpPpP another weeks gone...

Well, since this is 113 pages of speculation and eager anticipation....

Any chances the hype/build-up/mystery around all this is because the INC HD is going to be LTE?

I mean, so the rumors of VZW upping staffing at call centers and number porting apparently aren't for the IPhone (if those rumors are even true)...Sales reps giggling and zipping their lips...VZW hinting at an "iconic" device.

So, hey, let me just throw out there that the INC HD is going to be LTE. I know, I know - no LTE until May, or perhaps early Q1...or perhaps in time for the holidays? If this device is LTE, then there WILL be a crushing demand and all these other rumors/speculation start to make sense.

The original DINC had a standard AMOLED screen, not Super AMOLED like the Galaxy S phones have. The standard AMOLED is not that great in sunlight, which the SLCD screens are better. The Super AMOLED screens have better visibility in sunlight and higher contrast than LCD or standard LCD, althought they still suffer some from the pentile matrix display, which is another can of worms.

More evidence that Verizon is trying to get rid of the DINC:

Best Buy selling Droid Incredible for $100 this weekend | Android Central

wirefly.com has the DINC for $0.00
DROID INCREDIBLE by HTC for Verizon Wireless - Wirefly.com

And yet another site showing the original DINC heavily discounted...down to a penny.

Amazon.com: HTC DROID INCREDIBLE Android Phone (Verizon Wireless): Cell Phones & Accessories

Clearly VZW is trying to eliminate stock on this phone ASAP.

This would be awsome, but I am not holding my breath. If it was it would definitely cause a long line and a rush. It would also start a war and returns would be unbelievable from all the people who bought D Pros and D2G's.

I would definitely be happy though:icon_ banana:

The "iconic device" is the Droid Pro. Verizon is hiring more because they plan to sell many Droid this holiday season. LTE devices will be unveiled at CES in January (around 6 they are claiming). Then will be available the "first half of 2011".
