Mysterious Device Now With November 23 Launch date

Perhaps dumb question about LTE: most of the buzz I see concerns using LTE for your laptop to load full web pages and download files which is all well and fine. Unless I plan on doing a lot of tethering, I'm left wondering how LTE will change my life or be worth an extra $10/month for everyday mobile phone surfing, etc.

It's really personal preference. There will definitely be a speed boost in regard to upload/download speeds. The question is, are you fine with Verizon's current 3G speeds. Also consider Verizon's 3G covers more of the country than any other carrier and as you already know 4G will be limited. The hardware in this phone will also impact speed be it 3G or 4G, this phone will be fast.

I agree it's a personal preference. Though If i were betting most will think they need the extra speed but rally they won't need it

4G all the way.. and the price difference won't be that much, trust me.

But Miami, any chance this will be dual-core? NOT the 3G version, but the LTE version? Since they are pushing it till March or so, all the other phones (T2, Possibly the LG phone) are using Tegra 2. What are the chances this guy uses a Tegra 2 or the new qualcomm dual-core chips?

What about the original incredible, or the samsung fascinate?

Sent from my Droid using DroidForums App

The original incredible is on the small side (for me) at only 3.7" and is an aging device. The samsung fascinate - while it has a beautiful screen - has had issues with GPS and has been binged...which is not an option for me.

Now...if the Fascinate had not been "binged" I would have already upgraded. Many would say that I should root my phone...but I want something that I can get from the manufacturer that has google - hence the requirement for the most current high end Droid...this rumored phone.

If not...I will be leaving Verizon.

Dude I guess you are leaving Verizon because this phone is not coming out this month... I am thinking the 1stQ of 2011... Verizon really do not car if you make a threat like you just made. In my opinion I think you should wait it out you will not regret it.

I think it's been pretty established that there WILL be two phones: a 3g version in the near future, and an LTE version next year. at least, that's what we've heard from Miami and black_man_x

All I read into that is this phone will be 5.5ghz. SWEET!!!!! :icon_ banana::icon_ banana: LOL!!!!

well not quite that fast and I was talking about lte

Yeah, I know. I was just kidding.
I was referring to the "...but really they won't need it part." ;)

Well if 3G is good enough for you then why switch and I am almost 100% positive on the extra charge or tierd data for an lte or 4G service

Exactly. And I know many Storm users that are just waiting until November is up so they are free of their two year contract...if Verizon doesn't do this right they will lose a large base of customers.

This is exactly the boat that I'm in. I have been DYING to dump my Storm for a high-end Android phone. I told myself I would wait until Black Friday to see where things stand and then pull the trigger. I can't wait until March for LTE (and since I work in NYC I could enjoy LTE).

BUT if VZW doesn't come through with something terrific this holiday season I'm walking.

ALSO I will be pissed if I get the HD now and an LTE version slides down the pike in a couple of months. Having an upgrade possibility would be terrific, but seeing how VZW has handled the Droid 2/D2 Global I doubt they will, greedy sons of burritos.

So here is the thing...

Ask your self this...if you bought an HD during the holidays and loved it and kept your bill the same every month. then saw an LTE version come out and wanted it but it would raise your existing bill every month. Would you buy it?

If the answer is no you wouldnt buy it to pay extra $$ per month for an LTE device. Then you have nothing to fear. IF you would then I say buy a Droid off ebay or from a memeber here and wait out your upgrade till q1.

NO LTE devices coming this year is the word I got last night. SO I expect everything to be 3g only. Again that could be wrong but the office and place that came from has a pretty good idea of what's going on...

I mean they could even read this forum :icon_eek:

Thanks for the advice, Miami. That's something to think about.

I could get an used Droid to tide me over until March and possibly the T2/Olympus/Etna would be available at that point.

Anybody dumping their X when the HD comes out? I might just take it off your hands....

Hey guys forgive me, but I'm kinda out of the loop here...I was in on the chat last week, and haven't been able to see what's been going on lately...is the IncHD still on track to come out this year as a 3G device or do we now have to wait until March for the LTE version?? I'll take the 3G version in a second.

thanks

This will be a tough decision:

HTC Incredible HD (LTE) or Motorola T2/Etna/Olympus (LTE)?!

Good time to be on Verizon come March!

you do know that device is rumored to be headed to ATT only right? Last I heard anyways

According to rumor it's going to AT&T first as 3G and then coming to VZW later as LTE/global.

Thanks I tuned it out when I saw att only....I will have to go digg around for more on this as soon as the HD gets out...

Miami, are we still getting the HD this year or is the wait now for an LTE till March? That post on Droid-life has me all screwed up. lol

I heard ATT first, then following Verizon after.
