mine non stop force closes...and it's killing me. I want the 2.1 gallery to work

I had the same issue, here us how i solved it:

Do a battery pull
boot again
uninstall the APK
reboot
install the APK again

That worked for me so far, no issues anymore. Try it!

HELP!!!! Im getting an error when trying to erase second gallery.
/path/to/busybox: not found

I know i have busybox. maybe its not where this line says???
should path/to be replaced with the actual path?
LIKE /system/xbin or something
i dunno kinda noobish

/path/to/busybox mv /system/app/Gallery.apk /system/app/Gallery.bak
/path/to/busybox: not found
it happens right here


ANY SUGGESTIONS?
i have 2.0.1 rooted with busy box and rootdroidhelper

UPDATE!!!!! I GOT IT DUHHH you have to change where the busybox was which mine was in /system/xbin/
awesome. im starting to figure stuff out on my own now...LOL

Wow, this sounds awesome...but: What will happen if we have all these 2.1 things loaded when the real 2.1 OTA comes out? I did the Gallery install, but so far that's it. I'm skeptical to mess with the home screens at the moment. Someone ease my fears

The ONLY negative so far is Landscape mode for the Home page is basically crippled. I don't use the home page in landscape anyway so that doesn't bother me.

Installing these 2.1 apps in the way we are doing them(nonrooted phone) will not affect the offical 2.1 update at all, the only thing you will need to do is just uninstall all the added in apps so you don't have 2 sets of icons. They will not interfere or "overwrite" the native apps so there is nothing to worry about.

Installing the 2.1 Launcher2.apk is no different than installing an "aftermarket" Home replacement app.. with one exception.. it makes the system faster instead of slower !!

If you don't like it just uninstall using astro. I just tested the uninstall for another user in the other launcher2.1 thread and I confirmed for him that it will just put all your old stuff back there as it used to be for you with no harm done. And the user above is right, it will not affect the official release stuff coming in a few weeks.

@Rin, you are my HERO! I honestly think that method was the one that fixed my force closing issue. What does that chain of events even do to fix the issue? I tried a ton of battery pulls before, reboots, uninstalls, installs using ADB, installs using the browser, etc etc and nothing eliminated it. Even formatted my SD card multiple times!

what do you have to lose? You dont like them, uninstall them...not going to hurt your droid.
