new bionic ics update 6.7.230

EDIT: I think I've managed to confuse myself quite nicely. It appears that getting to ICS is as simple as copying to the ext sd booting into recovery and installing. Is it still possible to use safestrap to switch between ICS 230 and my stock 905 or am I misguided by the definition of a ROM. I've read myself silly today, will get at it again tomorrow.

905 is Gingerbread, ICS is well, ICS. You cannot safestrap between GB and ICS. What you need to do is find a custom rom based off of the ICS leaks to install.

Edited cause I mixed up safe and non-safe side

What you need to do is find a custom rom based off of the ICS leaks to install on the non-safe side and it will keep the stock ICS leak on the safe side. Safe side just means it won't let you flash anything over it, non-safe allows you to flash anything over that partition, potentially messing things up. If that happens, you can just boot into recovery and go back to the safe side where everything is still stock. Hope that clears some things up.

Incorrect. This post will just confuse people. The "non-safe system" is your stock ROM, and many features in Safestrap will be disabled when this system is active, to keep you from hurting yourself (to an extent anyway). The "safe system" is your custom ROM, this is your "play" system and all features of Safestrap will be enabled.

I'm on 230 here, can someone point me with a link or instructions to root this, didn't know if it was the same as the previous leaks. Thanks

Yes. WIping the cache is not a bad idea after any update. It solves a lot of the problems people are reporting with the ICS leak. Should become a SOP for everyone.

Are you talking about the Gallery Cache, or all of them? If there are more than one to clear how do I go about doing that?

After flashing the update in stock recovery, the bottom option is Wipe Cache Partition. Select that option. The select Reboot System Now.

Does anyone have lag issues with 230 ? I fxz'd 902, formatted both sd cards, ota 905, then installed ICS 230 and rooted. Installed my apps from scratch. Everything works great without issue except the whole experience is a bit laggy. Anyone else seeing this??

Yes, it's posted several places on this site as well as at XDA. Seems to be idiosyncratic, though, without any specific causes or resolution.

What exactly is laggy? I'm on 230 and I don't see anything laggy, everything acts really smooth. I've used about everything I can thank of and been through all the menus and such, all seems fine for me. When I first installed it slightly acted up but after wiping cache it has ran like a dream.

I think I had the same experience as you. At first was slow but now it seems much better (24 hours later). I just wiped cache, so will see if that helps. What I noticed most was clicks not responding. Either I had to be more precise than under GB or had to click twice.
