New Carrier 'Republic Wireless' Coming Nov. 8; Unlimited Voice, Text & Data $19/Month

I live in Greensboro, NC with that said my house sit just down a small valley and almost out of Big Red cell range. I live in a small cell hole, but my work phone with sprint has full coverage at my house. I been wanting to get rid of my line land due to cost and go with a single cell phone. I could use my Big Red phone but service is a hit or miss or walk / drive to end of road and then get a good single. Doing that would eat into my family plain of 700 mins with people I know that are not a Big Red callers. Plus some of my family dislike using a cell phone for hour(s) talking some cooking of ones face starts to happen. :) I might look into this and see how the service is compare to Big Red. Plus my sister works for ATT wireless and I know how that service is in this area and I'll will compare ATT as well.
If I do try them I'll post back on this thread or a new one what I find out.

I had to edit my post I think when I wrote this was well when I was a bit tired.

since i am going off to college next year i will definitely try this since my parents will probably take me off their plan and this would be reasonable to pay for for a college student

I hope this takes off. That's one helluva price difference. The carriers are making money hand over fist and all we see are plan increases and caps

I most certainly hope they can at least show some of the bigger guys it's possible... if they do things right they might even "someday" be able to force bigger companies to lower their prices.

I have seen this before but I not have that lovely price to spend as of now. :icon_eek: Even knowing I want to upgrade my phone the prices holding me back. Plus I'm waiting for the other hot topic phones to come out. The thing is when I did my first sign up with a VZW REP she told me that my Address was in low zone also knew that areas just around me would drop in and out. So from my reading it may work it may not work my coverage may not be in the "
Q&A

3. Where can I use my Network Extender?

Network Extender will operate anywhere within the Verizon Wireless Enhanced Services coverage area. Not available in the Extended Enhanced Services coverage area or outside of the United States. Refer to Verizon Wireless coverage maps for details. "

The map now says I'm in the Enhance area but before 4G LTE came out I was not, yet I have notice my cell phone does work better not great. For as 4G LTE I'm again right on the line of Enhance to Extended....what can I say I live in a hole but use my phone all over the place with great ease.

With this service I can still talk on the phone from this new company at my out building where as the Network Extender has a 40 foot range but not guaranteed. My out building is over 70 feet from my house. I do get data from my phone almost 99% of the time so that is a plus and I use WiFi and I do use Skype time to time. I guess I have to weight out my options as I have been for a few months now. This just adds one more to the mix of what I could do.

Thinks for reshowing me that I have forgotten about the Network Extender.

While this is a great concept, I'm curious about how well the product will "travel."

Right now on the Network Extender, you can't come into the "extended zone" without dropping the call first. You can leave fine, as it will pick up the cell network on the way out of the house, but coming into the house will not automatically transfer to the extender.

So if, for lack of a better example, I'm in Starbucks and I make a call out, and leave the building during the call, how is transfer of service going to be? Is it going to drop the call in order to find another WiFi location or just pick up Sprints network?

Sounds cool, but we shall see in practice.

Yeah I got it too. Just sending them early I guess to make sure they all go out by launch tomorrow. Now I just want to know what I have the opportunity to get at half off of... Odds are I won't leave Verizon but I have plenty of uses for a $19 unlimited mobile plan as a second phone. We shall see...

Sent from my brain using human to phone transport technology.

i would get this and keep my vzw(grandfather data plan) for awhile just to test out the reliably of service and speed etc...if all is good. im gonna drop vzw for sure myself 1300 the first year and 1600 after. LOL
