New New New!

I rooted but I'm not flashing any ROMS. I'm 15 so my mom would kill me if I broke this phone lol
Even though I did get a job and worked all summer to buy it myself :) so I could do it if I wanted but, I don't need roms.
I'm using LP anyways

Yeah I'd say she'd be pretty mad. I'm old enough to be your mom so I can vouch for that. lol.

Do you have a good link that explains rooting as remedial as possible?

Find a post by spaz33g and check his signature. Theres a guide in it by pc747 (I think? ) that has a guide to rooting and all the terms. I rooted with an app called z4root. Its one touch and the app does the rest. Its not in the market anymore but you can find it on the internet somewhere

Another quick question. I went onto my music site and tried to dl a zipped file, figuring/assuming I could save it on my phone and unzip it thru here but the dl failed. Its usually from rapidshare or sendspace, sites like that. I have Astro on here so I thought that would help me unzip but any ideas why the dl failed? Is it not capable of doing this big a dl off the net? I just wanted to cut out the middle man (usb transfer). No biggy if I can't.

Yeah maybe. I'll try again another time. I've just been using my usb.

Rooting the phone itself is pretty harmless, flashing roms is where it can go wrong.

If your looking to root theres a thread here:
http://www.droidforums.net/forum/droid-2-hacks/80080-much-simpler-guide-rooting-no-pc-required.html

The files you need can be found here:
MEGAUPLOAD - The leading online storage and file delivery service

All you need to do is grab those files and unzip them to the root of your SDCARD so /sdcard/

Then grab a "terminal emulator" from the market and follow those directions on that page and reboot your phone and your rooted!

"Flashing ROMS" sounds so fresh.

Cool I'll check those links out. Thank u!

Since you have the Droid 2 Global, I'd check and see if the OTA update is available before rooting because if you root then get the OTA, you will lose root.

Settings>About Phone>System Updates> and see if it's available for you, then root

Also since your on the Droid 2 Global I really really don't recomend flashing a new rom because most Droid 2 roms are based on differnt builds and your bootloader won't like that and you will most likley end up bricking your phone.

Like I said though, rooting the phone itself is pretty harmless.
