New OTA Update Downloading......

Anyone know if you have to unfreeze bloat to see if the update is available? (when it becomes available) I know you can't install it with bloat removed, but can you download it?

According to Verizon, this has to be a soak test.... I hate this at times. Probably because I never get the leaks, or the soaks..... but either way it gets on my nerves, especially when u hear that it fixes the connectivity issue..... and today my phone has been 3g more than 4g... and I'm in a 4g area.....

Judging by the fact that many people who have gotten this didn't sign up for the soak test, I am willing to bet this is the actual OTA push. Also, the soak test for this rom started more than a week ago (two if I'm not mistaken), so it stands to reason it might be the real thing.

That would mean two things. First, I talked to yet another Verizon rep that knows jack sh!7, second... in typical fashion... my stupid phone will be o e of the last ones to receive the update ota. And both of these things are totally plausible.

I would love to be able to find out how they decide who gets the push and when.

Well from past ota pushes it goes out in waves, that way (and don't quote me on this) it won't flood the data airways again just speculating here. If they just push it out all at once to all devices it could interfere with the data and could cause issues. At least I think. But hey what do I know. Lol

Thanx... I came here from the moto owners forum. I knew about signing up for soaks through them. I just never get picked. Oh well. The data drops I've experienced today(constantly) just have me a little ticked. And if it wasn't dropping all together it was staying in 3g most of the time.... and being as I live in a 4g area... as I said.. I'm slightly ticked. And I call and ask if its the network or tower problems, they say its not them. But I know it has to be...I also have a Bionic and its a stable bionic, no bsod issues, stays on 4g... well even it is having issues.

Its one of those days I guess.

They push the soak test to a random group of non soak test participants for some reason. The test started today. 1st people got it today. They usually last 2 days and then the testers get a questionnaire. After Motorola compilies all the results that the update makes things better, they push it out to everyone. Probably later this week or next week. You can get update if you have frozen bloat, just won't install. All files must be stock or update fails to install. This is just how past soak tests have been conducted. No guarantees, but most likely going to follow suit. I want it now also. Wish someone would capture it and post it. To late to sign up and be included in this soak test, it has already begun. Hopefully by next week we will all have it and if your stock it should install fine.

Well, that's the most reasonable explanation anyone has given for why those not signed up for soak sometimes get the OTA early. I'll retract my bet and fold this hand.

This is correct. I got a soak test e-mail but it did not push to the phone but I was able to pull it manually by checking for updates. The users that signed up for the test as well as some random users got the OTA it is sent to certain devices based on the MEID number of the phone and if your number is not included there is no way to pull it manually by using "Check for Updates"
I don't think telling that you got the test is a violation of the agreement but divulging details is.

With the last OTA I didn't have tl unfreeze my stuff to see that there was an OTA. When the OTA comes then you need to unfreeze everything before updating.
