New tb owners!!!

I just got mine this morning. Been charging for a few hours. Phone feels nice and solid.

But it's been activating for about 20 mins. Anybody else take this long? Should I take out batter and put it back in?

also i have the extended battery for the phone... been unplugged since 9:30 and the battery didn't do it's normal "dip" yet... wow. this thing is impressive. i don't think i could have a better phone

May I ask where you got the Extended battery from? I'm thinking about getting one and not sure if I should get it from Verizon or look elsewhere.

the store i got my phone from had a few extended batteries. you can also order them at verizon's website or at htcpedia.com. if you want one asap go to a store. if you are okay with waiting a day or 2 order from verizon.com by 4:30 and you'll have it monday. if you want to really wait order through htcpedia.com.... they're not stocking the itun until 4/8 (i checked that out wednesday).

also the extended battery makes the phone feel better in your hand. it fits the shape of your hand better and allows you to get a better grip on the phone.

Just got mine a couple of hours ago. So far, I love it. I've had the original Droid, Droid 2, and most recenly the Droid X. This is my first HTC android unit so there's a tad bit of a learning curve.

The only issue I've had to far is in Personalize, under "Sound set" if I tell it to add a new sound set, when I give it a name and click done, the application force closes. I've tried it several times and even rebooted. Anyone else seeing this?

Other than that, the phone is great so far!

The extended batteries are $49.99 in stores I believe, a bit pricey.

they only charged me 30 because it was a promotional item. no matter what the price is for the extended battery it's well worth it. the phone did the usual 2 hour battery dip after 5 hours... works for me :)

does anyone know if you can get text messages from a past phone onto a new phone or are they lost?

Imo, the extended battery looks horrible. Like attaching a Borg Cube to a sleek Federation Starship... http://shop.htcpedia.com/images/detailed/htc-thunderbolt-extended-battery.jpg

I'd love 2750mAh.... but no way I'd accept that much of a bulk. The back doesn't slide out as well as the Droid I so an extra battery isn't really a solution for me.

I have turned off all the syncing. I expected just my Google account to be syncing but apparently there was a ton of other things. So hopefully that will help.

two lights on the bottom appear if you're looking at it from top to bottom, where the soft keys are. Lights turn off about about 3 seconds.

Oh I see those.
I was talking about at the very bottom, under the menu/search/etc navigation.
You can see where some light is slipping out.

i
Right here, in between where the black portion ends, and the bottom portion starts.

Is that normal?

remember reading about that somewhere i thought. maybe they didnt glue it down good enough?

So did I not get a good phone, or is everyones phone like this?

Without root and Titanium they are lost. Why would you want to keep them anyway?
SMS Backup & Restore.

Doesn't require root access.

how do i get sms backup and restore? the phone is disconnected

does the phone have wifi? Use that and connect to the market and download. Have to have your SD card from the new phone in it to backup to.

If no wifi, then you could always reactivate it on the same line, do the backup, then reactivate the new phone.
