New Unlimited Plan from Big Red?

I called the Tuesday before Thanksgiving (went out of town for the long weekend). I was thanked for being a longtime customer. I asked about the special plan and was asked if I got the email. I said I saw it online, so they denied me, even though I said I was interested in upgrading to two new droids. No go for me. They are obviously getting tight on who receives the deal.

Call back and ask to speak to a supervisor. I had 3 different reps tell me no and finally I asked to talk to a supervisor. The guy on the phone tried to tell me him super woudl say the same thing but I didnt care.

After being on hold for what amounted to about 5-10 minutes the guy comes back on the phone and said I have been approved since I am a good standing customer.

My inlaws ( who's plan I'm on) saved $70/mo by using this. We have 2 original droids, and now 2 droid 2's on the plan.

Here's how he did it:
My father in law used a "verizon authorized retailer" to do all of this. He first called the retailer and explained the deal. The guy on the phone wanted a copy emailed to him. I nabbed the link on the first page and text'd my father in law the link. He in turn, copied the link to an email and sent it to the represenative. The rep. Called him back, and said he had to call verizon to confirm it. The rep called verizon's promo dept. , confirmed it, and gave it to him. In the process, my inlaws also upgraded to the BOGO droid 2's.

Just another "work around" that worked currently!

Just thought I would add to this thread with my experience as well. I just got approved for the 20$ less data unlimited promo without having received the email. This was around my 5th time calling about it so I finally tried the "can I possibly speak to a supervisor about his" approach. Now mind you, I was extremely polite with the representative, asked many questions about the plan and simply stated that I would like to talk with a a manager to possibly receive more info. After 3-5 mins on hold she came back and said that her supervisor approved the promo. GREAT SUCCESS!!!!!!!! :-)

i just tried to get this promotion and was denied. the girl said it was targeted at people that were no longer on contract with verizon, nothing about certain areas. if she was telling the truth, i guess they're trying to lock people in as much as possible with this plan.

Another story in the on going saga…..:)

I'm on a 2 year plan, called the second day it was offered, got it with no problem. No email was sent to me. My wife has her own contract and did the same thing.

Yeah so I called them up and within minutes I got the deal. Saving 20 bucks on my plan is pretty freaking ridiculously awesome in so many ways. He told me it was only for certain "qualified" people who were listed for long time customers.

Told him that's fine, that I switched to Verizon in the last 30 days and it's pretty cool that they're doing this to keep people, hopefully I'll get a deal like that in the future.

That's when he told me to hold on, and qualified my account over the phone. Five minute phone call, instant discount. Score.

Droidforums, you guys ****ing rock my socks.

I also called them, and got the discount. Granted i have been with them for about 5 years, but judging by the post above me it doesnt matter. Dunno if this was mentioned but u can also select 5 outside of verizon numbers to call unlimited for free. So, although it isn't completely unlimited calling it's a step in the right direction.

Sorry if that was long winded...

They they denied it to my friend but he lied to them and said he got the email. Didn't work, since the guy just wanted him to forward the email back at him.

From what I've seen being honest so far works best. They can be dicks about it, but if you're honest. Say you saw it online, that everyone is getting it and push it to supervisor level if possible you should be ok.

There is nothing in the advertisement that says ANY limitations, at all. You could push this up to the point of false advertisement if you have to. The only stipulation I see that they could enforce (but haven't) is the 1 year contract renewal.

The people likely to be able to get in on this plan are those that are currently not in contract. Don't lie about getting the email or whatever, don't be belligerent and it might work out for you. They could stop honoring this promo at any time it just really depends when they decide they want to. Despite the flood of our apparently not-so-welcome inquiries about this offer, they have continued it.

Bottom Line

Great responses - but what's the bottom line?:

$139.99 for 1st two lines (1,400 minutes)? Basically $20.00 after that (9.99 for line and 20 off of data)?

Do employer discounts apply if you got one before?

Employee discounts do not stack with it. Basically this promo is a 20 dollars off data promo and it only works with those plans listed.

You can also pay an additional 10 dollars and have 2000 minutes instead of 1400 minutes.

Or they won't let you get on the plan at all.
