News on the release of 2.1

hlaalu, this thread is for discussion of the Moto 2.1 release. There is an existing thread for discussion of the Eris 2.1 in the Eris thread. To reduce clutter please keep conversation for Eris in that area. Thank you.

Come on man, all the B.S. in this thread and you seriously tell ME not to clutter up the place? That was the first bit of news in this thread since.... page 1?

The title just says "News on the release of 2.1" so maybe you should put moto droid in the title.

Well here's a is quote pulled off OD Android central for 2.1 and the update

""The Android 2.1 upgrade for the Droid by Motorola was deployed to a small number of Verizon Wireless test users as scheduled. It is expected the broader phased rollout to all Droid by Motorola users will take place, but not just yet. No date scheduled yet.""

As you can see this thread is not about 2.1 for the Eris or the Milestone.

While you are trying to be helpful your post does not help VZW's customers using the Moto Droid.

I wasn't aware that a quote from another website was the actual guideline for this thread. I thought this was the droid forum, not the motodroid forum.

And last, my post DOES help VZW customers because it shows they are doing another phase of testing, trying to get the update out by the end of the month.

No official announcement = No update.

It is all speculation and rumor at this point. There is nothing concrete from anyone, just a conversation with a Motorola rep from one of the Droid related websites, and frankly, if you ask me, it's a misunderstanding.

I will believe it when I see the update prompt on my phone.

I hear ya on this one buddy! I have no clue what to believe anymore, you figure two huge corparations like VZW & MOTO could get something right but I guess not.

The absolute least they can do at this point, is give us some news regarding the update, and spare us the "sorry for the delay, we are working on the problem" type of stuff. We don't need all the details, just give us the reason for it, and I think most of the BS in this thread would quiet down.

I don't want to have a debate with you. The OP is VERY clear.

You are more than welcome to talk about the 2.1 update for the Moto Droid and anything pertaining to it.

If you still have a problem with that I ask that you do me the favor and take this offline via PM.

We can discuss it at length if you choose. In the meantime lets not force this issue on the other members.

Here's some good news. The Milestone is getting voice dial in 2.1 so Droid should get it as well hopefully.

Well I guess my neighbor was blowing smoke up my a$$. Nothing with the update he said Monday. I wonder what verizon would do if everyone with a droid decided not to pay there bill until we got hard answers on the update. I know they would stop service but if everyone did it? Hhhhhhmmmmmm.

What thing is that? Droidzilla, was it you that had the neighbor who worked at corporate Verizon and said it was coming out Monday? I'm not asking to rub it in your face, I'm just trying to remember who it was.
