News on the release of 2.1

This is extremely frustrating. However, all we can do is wait. I'm really hoping that it's a small bug that can be taken care of quickly, being that it was unnoticed until they started to roll it out.

For those of you who are feeling frustrated, keep in mind that this has update has got a lot of hype to it. Yes, it will be nice but it's not going to fix every little thing that is wrong with the Droid. It's just going to make it sweeter.

I'm on stock right now too and I'm waiting on it just like everyone else. Nothing else I can do.

I'm working a late shift at work tonight (robbing me of my Friday night!! bastards) but I brought my USB cable and gonna do some research.. i'll probably be rooted by the end of the night. Moto/VZW could have made this a lot easier by simply NOT announcing anything (I know this latest one was leaked by employees(who supposedly are the last to hear anything and when they do its set in stone)) but w/e

There is no need to fill these threads about the official 2.1 from Moto,Verizion with nonsense about BB 7.9 whatever, Black&white mod sholes 89.3,Droid mod c3po 7.9er 2 or any other hacked version of the 2.1 OS!

Why mods are so quick to jump on people in other threads that stay OT when there are only a few pages but refuse to police it here in the 2.1 threads when there are thousands of posts is beyond me!!

Plain and simple, stay on topic, this topic is about the 2.1 release/delay, not whether you are rooted,glad you rooted or you have been running 2.1 build for weeks!!

There are a few of us who DO NOT want to root or even CARE about rooting!!

The phone has been out only how many months??? This will be what # update?? This phone will have exactly 2 more updates when it gets 2.1 than any other phone in the past so I will wait paitently for it!

I completely agree...this is my third revision to this reply (1st two were out of frustration toward the update and "rooters" rubbing it in).

If your rooted and don't care, start a thread in the hackers section. I don't care for your opinion.

It's pathetic....I don't understand how they can maintain these business practices and continue to be profitable (They probably rely on the ignorance of their customers)...This is definitely my last Motorola product and probably my last Verizon contract. Don't care WHO's fault it is Verizon and Motorola are the faces of the product!

I guess the only way to make a statement is to avoid these products in the future....

Apply it to your job situation......How would your customers react?

It's just sad that Motorola keeps making announcements for Verizon when Verizon hasn't made any announcements on the release.

I wish Verizon would step up and make any type of statement as to what's going on, because they're the ones holding up the update...not Motorola.

I think it's funny that Apple has moved from innovating towards protecting their IP. MSFT did just that and it seems to be a band-aid for a bigger issue. Don't get me wrong, I love Apple products. I think they are masters at the interface and their products always seem to work together. I just worry when a company goes from actually creating new stuff and moves towards protecting things that should be for public consumption.

I read all the legal filings and they are attacking every part of the new phones that resemble anything iPhone related...(touch screen, multi-touch, etc). I can't imagine that those things would be protected, even though I know they are. It's just a shame.

What's really amazing to me: What is the update going to do for you that you can't live without? If you couldn't live without it, why did you buy the phone in the first place? If you bought the phone in that condition, why are you so angry they aren't doing anything to 'fix' it?

I don't understand why everyone is so up in arms over an update that really doesn't hold many bugfixes in the first place. The phone has some issues as all things in life do, but they are workable, fixable issues that most of us can combat on our own.

Has anyone had their phone blow up in their hands?
Has anyone had their phone melt to their dashboards?
Has anyone received major physical harm because of the phone?

I love these threads because of people like you. It reminds me how to appreciate how awesome the stuff is I have and not get stuck in a vicious circle waiting for 'the next big thing'.

I hope you make sure to call Pampers when they don't update your kids diapers.

What you say is true adrynalyne. We can't just say rooted people stay out. But we can avoid having discussions about rooting in this thread. The thread is not about rooting, it's about 2.1. What I'd like to see is that people don't discuss rooting i.e. I have droidmod, it's great why don't you use that? Or conversations about the different ROMs. Anything else 2.1 is pretty much OK since all it can be is speculation at this point.
