News on the release of 2.1

Yeah but the milestone is locked up like @tehhighpriest mentioned :( and I hope to god he's not correct, but I have this gut feeling he is.

Alright guys, I can't hold in this information any longer....
The real reason for the delay is because of the Droids flux capacitor. The device is the core component of the time machine, which was supposed to be the secret of the 2.1 update. The flux capacitor requires 1.21 gigawatts of electricty to operate, and Motorola is having a hard time with this. Sorry to bring the bad news to the forum.

I am officially going to the bar.....happy hour!

1.21 gigawatts??!!?!!! GREAT SCOTT!!

NOW,
It's pathetic....I don't understand how they can maintain these business practices and continue to be profitable (They probably rely on the ignorance of their customers)...This is definitely my last Motorola product and probably my last Verizon contract. Don't care WHO's fault it is Verizon and Motorola are the faces of the product!

I guess the only way to make a statement is to avoid these products in the future....

Apply it to your job situation......How would your customers react?

What's really amazing to me: What is the update going to do for you that you can't live without? If you couldn't live without it, why did you buy the phone in the first place? If you bought the phone in that condition, why are you so angry they aren't doing anything to 'fix' it?

I don't understand why everyone is so up in arms over an update that really doesn't hold many bugfixes in the first place. The phone has some issues as all things in life do, but they are workable, fixable issues that most of us can combat on our own.

Has anyone had their phone blow up in their hands?
Has anyone had their phone melt to their dashboards?
Has anyone received major physical harm because of the phone?

No. No. No.

I love these threads because of people like you. It reminds me how to appreciate how awesome the stuff is I have and not get stuck in a vicious circle waiting for 'the next big thing'.

I hope you make sure to call Pampers when they don't update your kids diapers.
Has anyone had their personal information or confidential work info stolen because their phone's security was faulty? if you own a droid....it's possible and is part of the 2.1 fix. Some of what 2.1 offers is relevent.

I know SOME people don't need to use their phone for anything other than a childs toy....and that's fine.....

Thats a pretty weak excuse you are hinging on there.

No, but I do know several who have had personal Info stolen because of faulty Windows and Linux software, and they dont get their panties in a twist when a patch is held up nevermind an incremental OS update... The 'sky is falling' mentality is matched only by the forum rants when Microsoft delays an Xbox dashboard update or holds up a game patch or map pack. People spend a bunch of time getting all spun up about things they have no control of and that are not effecting them today because it is in our human nature :icon_ banana:

Does the 2.1 update include Flash player? Not to get anybody upset, but does a rooted..(omg... wrong thread?) Droid have Flash?

Not rooted...(yet, waiting on replies)

Someone needs to go back to school....and decipher between emotions....frustration and anger don't equal the sky is falling.....that would be panic and fear.....and if its common for men to wear panties where your from...well.......I'm sorry :)

Now, its obvious your sole intention is to be aggravating.....and I hate to inform you that, unless you have 2.1 or pertinent droid info, your not exceeding....and move on......
and...Your off topic......:D

Check me out. I've got a tag.;)

Saaay...That's a nice tag. (said like Shrek when he says "niiice boulder")

Oh and I spelled your name wrong lol

Twice:)

I know we keep seeing teasers out there. Things that look like official release dates and all, but I find it interesting when folks say they'll never buy from Moto again due to this. There are folks sitting out there on Android 1.x for a year with no upgrades to their OS. Here we are and even with a stock phone we can run 2.1 apps out there. They aren't delaying the release because they want to tick folks off. They have a business to run and want it to go as smoothly as possible. Fortunately we do have an option. Wait until they say they are ready or upgrade when we think are ready. Neither option is right or wrong, it is just that, an option.

Did anyone see the Android Backflip for AT&T is so crippled it comes with no Google Search and absolutely no option to install apps from unknown sources? Glad I've got the phone I've got!

I see the Milestone folks posting here. When you all upgraded how much better was it? What can the folks with the US version of the phone expect? Did you notice a big difference? Did it erase everything? etc.

bpad10
your out of line!
I had a 2.1 question, which you might have answered if you had understood my writings.
Let me leave it at that, before my 50%Irish kicks in.
