"Official" Beautiful Widgets Skinning Thread

I made a new one. I am open for suggestions. This one I made myself.


The font is based on the Left 4 Dead (1 and 2 ) game. The background can be found here: Droid Black Skull

Looks good, will add Link on Post 1.

BTW, with your skull wall, you should make a font that looks like it has blood dripping off the numbers Call it "Blood Skull" :icon_ devil:

I've honestly never done any of this before. How to make my own font is not something I would be too good at doing. The font I used is freely distributable and based on the font used in that Left 4 Dead game.

You don't have to design a new font, just rasterize all your numbers in photoshop and you can manipulate them just like images like add blood etc...Basically treat it as an image you could put skulls in for zeros even! lol

The truth? I know nothing about Photoshop. I tend to use Gimp. I imagine I can do similar with Gimp and will look into it tomorrow.

By the way, this background is more suiting to my skin I think.

Ah lol! sorry was assuming you were using photoshop, looks good though! I like the new background. Nevertheless, you could still manipulate in gimp I'm guessing (for the fonts).

The ONLY thing that BW skins has the to do with the screen shots you see in this thread is the upper approx 20-25% of the screen. Everything else is part of the particular users home screen setup and NOT a part of Beautiful Widgets Skins.

If you want to see more info about Home replacement screens and cool icons you shoudl spend some time in this thread. http://www.droidforums.net/forum/dr...s/717-screenshots-peoples-droid-desktops.html you can literally spend days on that thread finding information about Icons and Home replacements "screens"! To save some time I would start around page 92 and go from there for all the latest stuff.

Scroll down a little on the Widgets list from "Beautiful Home" to "Beautiful Smaller Home".

Updated the Left-4-Dead skin

I fixed an issue with the AM and PM being overlapped with the number on the left when there are two numbers. If you grabbed this, please grab it again.

Fixed my Left-4-Dead again. Smaller home blood spatter graphics were making the time difficult to see and read.

Don't give up!!! lol The AM/PM images are actually located in the airportone folder. Unfortunately Tama didn't include a PSD file of it so I had a hard time searching for it also. It's fairly easy to modify it though, pretty much all you need is the image size and the approx placing of the text to make sure it looks right once applied. And to do the dots just open the number.psd file and type in a ":" colon in the same font size and style (or different size and style depending on the type of effect your trying to create) and save it as a .png. Good luck! Don't be shy sharing it when it's done

Should I send this skin to Tama? I'm trying to gauge the interest in something like this.
I know the irony I'm setting myself up for, seeing as something big will probably happen on Wednesday, but I couldn't resist.

I LOVE this skin, it happened to match one of my wallpapers EXACTLY, see below. Too bad your going to teh apple side...

That is excellent dude. I wanted to comment last night but was so tired that I forgot. I installed that on my Droid already. I am sure it will end up as an official in the next update.

Don't need to wait for an update for skins to be added. Since it is getting the "included" skins from a server Tama just has to add the skin there and voila, it is there next time you load the skins list from the server! :icon_ banana:
