"Official" Beautiful Widgets Skinning Thread

Would it be possible for someone to post the guides from the dev kit in .png format? I don't use photoshop and I can't find anything else that will open the files, thanks....

No need. When you download a skin they go in your "data"-> "beautifulwidgets"-> "skins" / "tskins" / "wskins" folders. Those files are already in .png format and you can use those. Just create your own with the same dimensions and save them right over the originals.

When you make your own skins, do they need to be compiled like normal .9 images?

No, the only Beautiful Widgets skins that require .9 images are for the new Super Clock. All of the others (home, weather, toggle) use standard .png's.

Hope this helps!

wow i downloaded the skins. it works perfect to my android phones. yhank you for the share. looking forward to some skins.

thanks guys, ok, so I have made a superclock skin. I went to the site in the readme.txt to upload the skin, but I see nowhere to do this? Has anyone uploaded skins to that site before? It just takes you to the level up studio home page, but it has nowhere to upload anything?? It doesn't even have a place to contact them to ask how to do it, lol???

I have uploaded a bunch of skins. All you do is attach the ZIP file to an email to the developer.

I send mine to: [email protected]

hey there!

I would like to thank all people that created skins. Since I think they deserve more than fame, I decided to introduce a new feature within Beautiful Widgets.

You guys can not specify a Donate url, where you can receive a donation from the user (can be paypal or what you want).

Just define in the SuperClock/Weather/Battery/Toggles text file a new line:

donate=http://mydonateurl.com/beer

Once the skin is installed, when a user click on it, it will display a donate link. We are working in adding something more visual in the next release so people can identify which skins accept donations directly from the list, with a small icon.

So make sure to do nice skins, there might be some free beers to get :icon_ banana:

In the future we will also create a featured tab, so the best skins and our selection can get more exposure, and probably more donations!

Can I request some small things to be added to the app? Has to do with the text coloring of the weather and such.

Can we do this for skins that are already available?

Well, it is painful to do since we have to decompress, edit, recompress, re-upload, but this can be done for a few skins if they are populars

Why do I get force closings on my app? Downloaded ok so I don't get it? When I try to dwnld clock skins or weather skins it says error 203 contact support. What's the deal?

It probably means that you are running a warez/pirated version. If that is not the case, contact our support with your order number

I downloaded the latest update as well as the live wallpaper open GL. I'm having FC issues all over the place here lately.

I just bought and installed the latest version (3.3.4) of BW from the Android Marketplace, with the default skins it works fine; I downloaded Naked-Destroyer (from Page 24 of this thread) and when I use that I lose the background and its just the icons on my homescreen with no shading behind it. I then tried with some of the other skins that are downloadable through the app and I get the same thing.

I'm using a 4x1 Superclock and then the 4x1 weather widget (with 4 day forecast) together and I lose the shading on both.

I've tried toggling the 'Background Transparent' option in the settings and the different transparency settings but it doesn't work... anytime I hit the Background Transparent checkbox i get a force quit :(

Any ideas??
