The first replacement was a brand new droid x in a box, the second 1 was a "certified new" 1 and both did the same thing! So annoying! Thanks though

Anybody having force close issues with contacts since the latest leak. Had the same problem on the previous leak but it went away somehow. Maybe I did something before to fix it but I don't remember what if I did.
I only deal with tech support and they have sent me the replacements...no one else. I don't know what rootng is so I'm just gonna cross my fingers andhope it doesn't do it again. How is the Droid x better than Thunder Bolt?It seems you too many problems with your x. You have a glitchy phone. Mine works fine and I love it. I've had an iphone and a few other droids. I work for Verizon and even play with the thunderbolt. The X is by far imo the best phone. Im just curious, where did you buy your x? Because places like wirefly seem to have glitchy phones. Its best to buy at Verizon direct or an authorized retailer. So try and go back to where you bought the phone and get it swapped..and btw rooting wont fix your problems. You need a new x
Thanks--that is what I needed to hear. I purchased the Droidx through verizon wireless online.
I uninstalled launcher pro and it didn't happen 1 time today. So we will just wait and see. Thank you for the post
@ Pacidermiz X - you are spot-on. When I got my 3rd phone I thought it was my 1st one coming back to me again. They couldn't get the problem to reproduce, so they put it back out in the market. I wonder if it's possible to insist Verizon sends me a brand new one? Thank you for the post...especially 5).dancedroidThe DX seems to have had more lemons than most phone models. I love mine, and whenever it acts "funy" I reload the OS, about every 4-6 months.
I'll get to what I'm saying- there seems to be a high % of lemons. VZ takes them back, "refurbishes them" then gives them out for waranty replacements. Well, we don't know why the DX behaves badly, so who's to say that the waranty people's techs do? Where do the refurbs come from? Ones that were turned in for exactly the same reason that a customer is turning one in for: "Funny behavior". I mean really- has anyone used insurence for a broken screen? waranty replacement for bad buttons, display (besides the <200 w/ display sector corruption at release), or anything besides the hangs and reboots?
So it makes sense the replacements do the same thing. That really sucks, because all of you with problems just get more problems. Not a huge fan of Apple stuff, but this wouldn't happen w/ Macintosh gear. This problem has soured alot of people on Verizion, Motorola, and worst of the mix, Android/Google. That is a shame. I Think the onus lies w/ Verizon for a number of reasons, but MotoBlur is not without blame either. Too bad, because Motorola is a great manufacturer and employer, keeps American employee's interests at heart. They keep alot of American tech & manufactureing jobs that could be outsourced to the rest of the world. You don't see Steve Jobs doing that.
I think VZ has dropped the ball with this. I can't find any info, and VZ phone reps won't give me any sources of info. But I would like to know a few things, who's absence of information on the web is kinda, well, conspicuous.
1) The waranty swaps VZ does- who does it, VZZ or Asurion?
2) what technical resource do VZ or Asurion use? Motorola trained techs/engineers, or Graduates of Bob's Big Electronic Thingy Fixing Institute? Star-nosed moles, or Mogwai's jonesing for a mid-night snack?
3) What is "refurbished"- a new main PCB, or just low-level formatting of the firmware onto the suspect board?
4) What is the technical explanation for the aborent behavior?
5) Most importantly: Am I a freak for tripping so hard on this? I don't think so- we put our $$$ into these machines, and deserve to have what we were promised. That and I think the sucsess of Android is really important for the future of technology development, and by proxy, human development. My reason? Humans are no longer just plain animals, we are symbiotic, and to degrees, dependent on our technology. Haveing "open source" projects succeed will be key in establishing/ maintaining our freedom and ability to devolope and use tech. If the tech we use is developed and produced by big corperate entities, all they will produce is tech that makes us into bigger consumers. Not thinkers, inventors, or pioneers of any aspect of humanity. Well, I guess I answered the question about me being a freak, but can you dissagree with that statement? Google, Facebook, the telephone, electricity, and many more important things were all developed by single people or small teams looking to be successful. Not corporations that were looking to "optimize profits".
