I can't download or update any apps from the market. I'm receiveing a download unsuccessful message. I've tried clearing the data and cache from the market app and took the battery out of the phone for 5 minutes. I also hooked the phone up to the pc and looked in the android secure folder for duplicate apps but, the folder is empty. Anyone have any ideas?
Same sort of problem but I can download, then it just shows all new apps or updates to be "installing"...but won't install them.

My Droid X keeps having gallery crashes after I upload images, to where when I try to access my gallery it simply goes black and closes. I consult the fix page on here every time it happens, and it fixes the issue temporarily, but it always seems to come back at least once a month. Is this a known problem with the X, or is it simply user error and a bad choice of uploaded image types?

That's another issue I've been struggling with. I had a rooted X in the past and absolutely hated it, simply because I prefer my phone not shutting off every five minutes when I'm in the middle of doing something semi-important. I sold the rooted one and my boyfriend gave me his normal OS Droid X, and much to my astonishment his is acting exactly the same as the rooted one did. Mind you it has never been rooted, nor has anything other than a man's usual app library been installed to it. He has had this phone since the day it came out, and until recently we have never had an issue with it. What gives? Was there an update that caused this sudden reaction?

Hope you get it rectified man. Im still trying to see if my battery is defective lol....since the charge on usb taking for ever? Anyone experience this?

LOL... 5 days after I got my Droid X on the first day it was out, the USB charge port got fried. PC connections via USB still worked, but the charging would not occur! Had to return it and have replacement shipped to my home! (got it in 3 days rather than the 7 days expected too!) At least it was early enough to not have refurbished!

Haha

Lets see I think it would be a lot easier to post a list of what isnt wrong with the Droid X. I have a had 3 replacements and lets see the same issues over and over with each phone. You know Verizons solution to my problem? You need a new phone. Amazing how noone can ever fix an issue at Verizon.

So far, so bad.

After two months of light use (no dropsies) the back, menu, search, volume down and camera buttons all stopped working. Factory reset did nothing but erase contacts and apps. Contrary to assurances by VRZ that contacts were property backed up and checked by them. And that the apps would be easily re-downloaded from the market under myapps. :icon_evil:

Other problems (more like complaints);
The fact that you cant click on links, or copy text from the email program is completely ludicrous!

There is no easy way to disable data connection without drilling down into menu or using buggy apps with settings that dont stick.

Simple text messages sometimes arrive 3 hours late, even with great coverage and when the recipient is also on VRZ and within the same county. :icon_eek:

Should easily be able to remove any app in the tray (without 'breaking' warranty).

Crippled bluetooth stack.

No easy way to switch from swype to multitouch and back.

My kids free sammy feature phone plays music way louder and clearer.

VRZ is sending a replacement overnight (yay refurbs!) but if it only lasts a few months at a time and require$ time tinkering for what i consider basic functions, im not so sure i want another. -Bummer, cause theres so much I love about this toy.

My phone keeps popping up an install update, wanting me to update to (2.3.340.en.US). It says that it is downloaded and ready to install. I have been skipping it because I am rooted and do not know if it will screw anything up. Do I need to unroot before install?

a friend and I are both using LOOKOUT but he was having crazy reboot issues on his DROID X. Today he went into a local Verizon storefront and they state that they have noticed LOOKOUT has been causing similar issues for other users.

I'm wondering if others are experiencing this issue or if the rep was just giving a confident sounding guess.

Hmmm. I'm betting a lot of us downloaded Lookout after the malware scare ... I wish I'd kept track of when my phone started randomly rebooting so I could tell if Lookout was the culprit. I may uninstall it and see if the rebooting stops. Thanks for the tip.

shortly after posting I decided to uninstall Lookout to see if it made any difference.

My phone has not self rebooted since doing so (normally I would see 2 or 3 a day)

Though I'm leery about not having an anti virus program on my phone, i'm not sure of the reason of having one if it (reportedly) missed previous malware and forced my phone to reboot constantly.

I fixed my rebooting problems by uninstalling an app that I downloaded called milestone overclock so if anyone has this app uninstall....

Update:
New replacement DX has interlacing/bars during scrolling and reboots at least 3 times a day. Took it into verizon and they said the warranty was voided because i had to call in to get it activated properly. (it failed to activate OTA) How nice of the tech that I called to mention that. luckily the store rep un-voided my warranty, and is shipping unit 3 overnight.

Lets hope that "the 3rd times the charm."......

-NOT a happy camper.

Gallery just won't open from time to time! I assume it is a picture I downloaded, but after deletion through Astro and clearing the Gallery cache, closing and restarting, I still have the same problem.

Thing is, there was a small fix for this, but I have forgotten how to do it..
