OFFICIAL Droid X Issues/Problem Thread

My phone keeps popping up an install update, wanting me to update to (2.3.340.en.US). It says that it is downloaded and ready to install. I have been skipping it because I am rooted and do not know if it will screw anything up. Do I need to unroot before install?
Yes!

Updates:
DX #3 rebooted 2-5+ times a day and produced lines in the middle of the screen while jumpily scrolling.

DX #4 had white halo in the middle of the lower half of the screen, where obviously the previous owner had pushed on screen too hard, or sat on it.

Anyone know how many bad "certified" DX's one has to go through before they can change make or models? This is insane.

-What are we paying them for again?

No you do not have to unroot first, the update will remove root though and you will have re-root.
If you removed any of the preinstalled software, you will have to put it back before the update works.

So is there a consensus on what to do about constant reboots?

get the some problem??

The bottom of my screen is jumping and showing images from the top. Anyone else have this issue? I have tried a hard reset but no luck. It worked fine for about 4 hours then it just started acting up. There is a line across the bottom of the screen which is where the problem starts.

Any ideas? I might just have to take it into a store tomorrow but they probably won't have a replacement. Ugh.

yeah, surfered:) the same problem but I asked for the seller replace one..........

My Droid X keeps having gallery crashes after I upload images, to where when I try to access my gallery it simply goes black and closes. I consult the fix page on here every time it happens, and it fixes the issue temporarily, but it always seems to come back at least once a month. Is this a known problem with the X, or is it simply user error and a bad choice of uploaded image types?

Same issue here, anyone know of a permanent fix, it's getting kind of old fixing the phone every couple of weeks.

how do I change my owner name on my home page on a motorola global X??? I can't seem to find the settings to change this. Thanks

If your phone constantly reboots over and over again like my first x did. Call cust care 611. And ask for a replacement as long as thees no water dmg and its within one year of purchase

multiple problems especially wifi

I have read through many of the forums about problems with the droid x and I am having multiple problems.

Had my droid x for 1 week and may return it to go back to my original droid. droid x cannot connect to my home wifi--have tried several of the suggestions in the appropriate forums.

the sd card disappears and then reappears randomly. I had removed battery and sd and reinstalled in order for it to reappear.

when connected to computer by usb, sd card can not be found.

screen display changes--icons move or change size without my input.

supposedly I have 7 screens on phone but can only access 3.

when connected via usb, should I be able to connect to internet through the PC? If so, then it doesn't work.

I need to use wifi at home since I don't get a strong signal via 3G in my location.

If I root the phone, can some of these problems be solved?

It seems you too many problems with your x. You have a glitchy phone. Mine works fine and I love it. I've had an iphone and a few other droids. I work for Verizon and even play with the thunderbolt. The X is by far imo the best phone. Im just curious, where did you buy your x? Because places like wirefly seem to have glitchy phones. Its best to buy at Verizon direct or an authorized retailer. So try and go back to where you bought the phone and get it swapped..and btw rooting wont fix your problems. You need a new x

my Droid X keeps rebooting!

my Droid X keeps rebooting! Verizon sent me not one but TWO replacements!! They have all three done the same thing. I'll be in the middle of a text, internet, navigation, ANYTHING...and without warning...it freezes up...and like a seizure- I know its coming...it just turns off and reboots itself (sometimes up to fifteen times a day) ANYONE KNOW WHY THIS IS HAPPENING TO ME (This is my first smart phone )
P.s. i've done everything from using a new battery (bought the extended one)
Bought a new SD card and started from scratch
I deleted EVERY SINGLE APP AND STARTED OVER
NOTHING HAS HELPED!
I so badly want to be one of those people that loves their cell phone:( please help!

Please use this thread to report and discuss any issues and/or problems with the Motorola Droid X....

its not you, its the hardware. VRZ sends back out phones as warranty replacements that other customers have returned. the so called "certification" process appears to be to slap some vinyl stickers on someones else broken phone and send it back out to their loyal customers.

(im on DX number 5)
