~OFFICIAL: FRG01B FroYo Issues/Solutions Thread~

I just got the OTA update this morning and its been up for about 20min. I haven't seen any major issues, except for my WiFi signal icon. I'm connected to my WiFi (along with this laptop) and the router is literally 3 feet away. But the phone's icone shows no lit bars. I can surf just fine and it seems normally fast. But no signal strength indication on the icon.

OTA Didn't work, Forced update didn't work... now what?

i plan to go to verizon later today to see what they say, but i anticipate little to no help from them... so i decided to post this here.

i tried the forced update to the stock 2.2 a couple weeks ago to no avail... kept getting this error every time i tried:

Assert failed : apply_patch_check (”MTD : Boot : 2504704 : 0b5ee101da41148aa026a32848f609fa4b05403e:2875392:d 104d2ec84a2d0660e786c0fb8174bfacb4079d6″)
E:Error in /sdcard/update.zip
(Status 7)
Installation Aborted

so i decided to wait for the OTA update... had it waiting for me when i got up this morning... pressed install and let it go to work... came back 20 minutes later and it was still on the triangle w/ exclamation logo... so i let it sit longer... came back yet another 10 minutes later it was on the Motorola logo and just stayed there for about 5+ minutes (i let it sit for awhile to make sure it was done) so i took out the battery and restarted... and no update... still says "2.1 Update 1"

now what do i do?

You can try to manually update it again with either FRG01B or FRG22 by naming it update.zip, placing it on the sd card and rebooting into recovery (turn off, hold 'x', power on, release 'x' at triangle, hold camera button and press volume up and you should be at the recovery menu) and selecting "apply update.zip"

that was what i did when i mentioned trying the forced update... that error in my first post is what i kept getting when trying to install it at the recovery menu.

try initiating the update manually by going to....

menu > settings > about phone > system updates.

When you did the forced update, what was the size of the update file? 48mb or 79mb?

FRG22 can only be installed if you are rooted. It's a leaked copy. To the best of my knowledge a signed version of that is not available yet.

USB mounting after 2.2 update

My Droid just got the Froyo update this morning - a good thing? I wanted to pull some pictures on to my pc so I hooked up the usb connection. Nothing. In the past I got a notification asking me if I wanted to mount the SD card, now I get bubkis. Anyone else having this problem?

Just pull the window down and you will see the mount there. :)

How are you copying it to your SD Card? I ran into the same problem with the first updated FRG01B. I was using Drop Box. I copied it from my Desktop to the Drop Box Folder and then opened that folder on my Droid and copied it to the root of the SD Card. Everything seemed to work as expected but I got that error you posted. Turned out I was grabbing it on the Droid before Drop Box finished uploading it from my PC (slow internet connection at work). I later downloaded it directly from the download link to my Droid and everything worked fine. If you have the file on your desktop you could copy it via USB...but you have to know the file on your desktop is valid. At the time I ran into this I did not waste time trying to find out if the file on my desktop was valid. Just went straight to the source with my Droid.

i downloaded it with the droid via download link... tried many different sites... and yes i'm sure it was done downloading.

If push comes to shove, you can take it to Verizon.

it was 48... i tried the 79mb as well i do believe that as FRG022.

try initiating the update manually by going to....

menu > settings > about phone > system updates.

that was the first thing i did... says im up to date

The notification window? Nothing there.

There is no notification that asking you if you want to mount, I know what you're talking about. But yes, the notification window.

Reset your Droid and give it a try again.
