~OFFICIAL: FRG01B FroYo Issues/Solutions Thread~

Received my update last night and installed this morning-I really like it! The bluetooth dialing, improved contacts search, etc are great. I have a couple of questions:

Car Home - it appears there is room on the second page to add application links while in Car Home mode but I can't figure it out.

Exchange E-Mail - it is working really well. I thought I read that, with this upgrade, you would be able to type then name of a company contact in the "To" area and it would be able to search the company databse of e-mail addresses and find it-like you can with a Blackberry. Is that possible?

Sync your Exchange email account to your phone and auto-complete recipient addresses.

I think this is what you are talking about. I'm sorry, I can confirm that it's suppose to do just that but I don't use my Droid in that manner. So I'm not sure how it works. But hang in here a bit and somebody will have a better answer for you.

my only issues are my LauncherPro is extremely laggy when going back to my home screen, and HTC keyboard doesnt work anymore.

i saw a post in the first few pages about an updated HTC keyboard, but i couldnt find a link or anything.

Launcher Pro needs to be updated to work with 2.2. You build the app for the OS, not the other way around.

After upgrading to 2.2, I noticed that my battery life is horrible. It dies in about 25 - 30% less time than when I was on 2.1.

Has anyone found a concrete solution? I've only seen resetting the phone as an option.

I can't say I've seen a significant change in the battery, but then again I usually go through two batteries a day. High tech phones take a lot of juice. Now 25 - 30% is a lot and it really shouldn't be using that much battery. What does your battery use look like? Can you tell what's taking the majority of the juice?

It looks the contact up automatically as you type in part of their name. Works great for me!

I've noticed that my display eats of the majority of my battery, even with it set to 0% brightness and turn off after 15 seconds. i do a ton of texting tho.

My Droid just got the Froyo update this morning - a good thing? I wanted to pull some pictures on to my pc so I hooked up the usb connection. Nothing. In the past I got a notification asking me if I wanted to mount the SD card, now I get bubkis. Anyone else having this problem?

Interesting. Before when I plugged the USB into the Droid I'd be able to pull down in the notifications bar, press on the USB notice and select "Mount." Now when I plug in the USB the screen changes to the Android with the left arm looking like a USB connector. Below that is a button giving me the option to mount.

When you did the forced update, what was the size of the update file? 48mb or 79mb?

it was 48... i tried the 79mb as well i do believe that as FRG022.

Interesting. I did the install with the 79mb and it was OK. In fact, if you do go to Verizon, that'll probably be the one they use.

BTW, that is not FTG022. It's just a full install, with the 48mb being the OTA version (just patches).

Maybe you should go to http://www.droidforums.net/forum/dr...ircus-continues-frg01b-official-get-here.html and ask. I've gotten a lot of help on that thread.

Problems with Froyo [Looking for Advice]

Hi all,

I just called Verizon to complain about the following issues:

* Increased temperature (reached 109 degrees today)

* Wifi disconnection loop (wifi works for 5-10 minutes them disconnects and connects in a loop.

* Decreased battery life (from 14 hrs on 2.1 to 4 hours on 2.2)

The guy told me to run my droid in safe mode the rest of the night to see if its an app or something else causing the problem and then if these problems persist, to do a factory reset. He said my other option was to bring it to a Verizon store to have the reinstall the 2.2 OS onto my phone.

I just wanted other peoples opinion on his advice. Thanks.

109 degrees is nothing to worry about. If it gets to 120 and stays there, you might get a bit concerned.

WiFi, try changing channels. There is an app that can help you do that, sorry I don't remember the name search wifi in the market.

If you do a factory data reset, that doesn't mean you lose 2.2 and need another install. Guy doesn't know what he's talking about.

Increase battery? Could be, you're running at 800 mhz now as opposed to 600 mhz. Could also be because of the update you're "playing" with it more. Which would also explain the temperature increase.

Give it a few days and then see how it does.

And one more thing. If you are using a task killer or virus protection, get rid of it.

It doesn't sound like he's rooted to me.

The only things I've noticed so far is when you push the new onscreen button to scroll through your apps, the wallpaper isn't there. All I have is a black background.

Also the stock browser lost my preferred home page. It reset back to the Google homepage. I had it set to a blank page. I've tried to redo that, but ti's not saving my setting, and defaulting back to the Google page.

In addition, I've got no shutdown or startup sounds. you know, the "Droid" sound. I looked, and I think I have it set for that, but nothing.

2.2 Update - Message App Photo Icon

My phone downloaded the 2.2 update today. Everything seems to be working fine... except...

for whatever reason, I cannot seem to get the MESSAGING app to recognize my own photo from FACEBOOK. I am completely stumped at this point, and feel I have tried everything I know.

When the phone rebooted after the install, I had to log back into Facebook to get that crankin again - it then asked me to sync up. Did that - fully. It seems that every single one of my contacts that have a Facebook photo icon has their icon showing up in MESSAGING except for mine.

I checked Facebook, and my photo icon shows up there just fine.

I tried rebooting again. Didn't fix it.
I tried deleting a message thread & starting again with that contact. Didn't work.
I checked all the settings & sync options - maybe I missed something?

Does anyone have any suggestions?

Search issues with Froyo

So, if I try to do a quick search In the Droidforum with my Droid with Froyo and Flast loaded, the advertisement bar below the black bar with links overlays the search box and I can not use it. Or if I can see it and touch the input field to input text, then the input of text takes me off to the advertised site.

Anyone else having this issue??? Chris
