~OFFICIAL: FRG01B FroYo Issues/Solutions Thread~

I really want to uninstall 2.2. I hate it, but after reading an above post I will see if there are any convincing reasons not to. BTW I loved this phone (the original Droid) which was working without incident before. (and I am quite illiterate on most of the computer stuff, so everything is obviously stock)

my phone is so sluggish now. just unlocking it seems to take forever. when I open the app drawer (which is not a drawer anymore) It sits there with out allowing me to scroll for 15 seconds or so. my internet is freezing constantly- and I can even get off that same screen (I can go to other places bit when I go back to the net it is just where I left it , and non responsive). a lot of times if I press the screen it doesn't recognize it or does something else. (i.e. I was looking for the model number just now and after the 6th touch it opened the swype tutorial). I lost all my musical playlists (but not my songs). It switches from sound to vibrate randomly.
the reliability is so below par, I am getting frustrated. If anyone has ideas on how to correct this I would greatly appreciate it. otherwize if someone could explain in very basic terms, how to uninstall 2.2, which I guess requires doing a factory restet. I'm not sure how to do this. (type slow becsue I can''t read fast :)

The problem isn't the update. The problem is an application (s) on your phone that are hogging resources.

If it's running that bad do a factory data reset, by all means. That will clear everything up for you and you should have a sleek, faster running Droid. There is no way possible that the update can make your phone run slower. It's got to be something conflicting with the update.

You can't go back to 2.1, this is a mandatory update. If you really don't want to try my suggestion then the only other thing you can do is root your phone. And that, I'm not going to go through here with you in this response. Visit the hacking area for information on that.

hook bill I would have to disagree!!! My phone ran like crap after the froyo update. It ran much better after the "full" froyo update that I pushed. I wasn't satisfied though until I rooted and stumbled upon liquid frozen yogurt. Then my phone came ALIVE and works like it used to before Froyo!!! So I had the exact problems as Goofy and the rest here.

I even tried pushing FRG22 and then running Cyanogen CM6 RC2 and it was even MORE sluggish. But now I am happy. So I can relate to people's complaints here... they are valid. Why should your perfectly fine droid end up being SLOW and LAME because of an update that was claimed to increase your phone from 2-5x what is was before??? I was pissed and think Motorola needs to figure it out. until then I stay rooted and LIQUIDfied.... awaiting 928 droid theme!

since froyo update my battery has started dying very quickly never had problem before update
I got the update through OTA on Thursday and my battery have been draining faster, too.

I had the same problem until I let the battery drain to the point of the phone turning off, then charging it completely. It's been fine since then.

Ok, I think it would bs since 2.2, but truthfully I havent' accessed my music for a while. Today I find that when I try to play anything but albums purchased on the phone I get the message "sorry the player does not support this type of file." It used to!

Nothing has changed in the type of files the Droid plays. What type of files were these that you say were playing and no longer play?

music I had burned from CDs onto my pc, then synced to my phone. Had been working fine previously. Any thoughts/suggestions very much appreciated!

first off, I am using straight froyo, not anyone's rom so if BB fixes this please let me know..

but I have it so the phone is on vibrate, and if i press down on the volume button it will not go to silent. I can go to settings and turn off vibrate and then the phone shows its on silent.. But i basically want it to work like 2.1..where it goes Loud -> quieter -> quieter->...->vibrate->silent

any help?

Hi,
Have you got any luck with this? I had to install an app called
SilentMode OnOff

by CurveFish

To be able to more or less do what it did before. The settings for vibrate have to be on "only in silent mode" . The widget then toggles between sound, vibrate only and silent.

Somebody else around here somewhere recomended:

Quick Settings

But I have not installed this so far.

Cheers!

Since I updated my phone no longer vibrates when I receive a phone call or a text message. I've got the vibration set to always on, but the phone is only completely silent or rings. Does anybody have any tips on what I should do?

anyone having issues with the digital clock. I can no longer seem to change the color. I had it on yellow when the update came and now can't seem to figure how to change it

I too am having this problem. Battery use is half of what it was on 2.1. I run a rooted stock droid.

I removed ATK and that hasn't helped at all. I installed SetCPU and set it for 250/600. No change.

I haven't tried Juice Defender yet but I suspect that this ROM is just buggy. I'm probably going to roll back to my 2.1 rom.

2.2 issues

I did manual update and really havent seen any difference besides the buttons on home page....its running slow and web browsing is extremly slow...my face book wont sync with my contacts....texting is really slow...can anyone tell me what i need to do to fix this or how to go back to 2.1 and then maybe go to a verizon store and get the actual update not one i downloaded? i thought there was suppose to be a whole new market? i havent seen anything...

Unneeded Apps Running

I've noticed recently - not sure if it was doing this before my 2.2 update, but it doesn't seem like it was as bad - that I've had too many unneeded apps running on my Moto Droid. I'll go into Task Killer and kill them all from running. A half hour later, I'll check back with Task Killer, and many of them (like Facebook and Skype) will be running again.

I'm guessing Facebook is running because of some sort of Sync going on, but I can't figure out why Skype and others would start up again. Is there something I can do to prevent this from happening?

Your thoughts/comments are GREATLY appreciated.

Thanks for your help.

What does Settings -> About Phone -> Battery Usage say is sucking up all your battery life?

if the use of task killer is not bothering your phone then, its ok if apps run in the background.

android kills them if needs more memory. i tried to make it sound basic for you

This question has been asked many times. First, quit worrying about apps running in the background, they are really harmless. Second, you do not need a task killer. http://www.droidforums.net/forum/droid-applications/65483-task-killers-answer-google-developers.html

Read this information from actual research that has been done on task killers by Google and you should see why they are unnecessary.

I don't have this issue, go through your settings for sounds on your phone, make sure the volume is turned off and that your vibrate is checked off in your settings.

I have to say the new update 2.2 sucks.
Issues:
Cant turn off blue tooth notifier
Add Twitter app / which blows
Killed all Task Managers with 2.2 / means amazon mp3 is always running and others
Adobe Flash is slow not won't it

There is probably more.
