Yes, rooted froyo does that for usb tether. Wifi works fine (rooted).

has anyone noticed that USB tethering is available in 2.2 but it brings you to VZW to buy a plan

Does the rooted rom from before do that?

Yep..FroYo did that for my Nexus..entirely different phone. Nexus users await Gingerbread. :icon_ banana:

Ended up doing the manual installation on my D1 in Vacaville, CA. All works well except iMobsters game - screens are now pretty messed up.

Has anyone here actually gotten 2.2 OTA today?!?

...and not had to manually install it. I read the supposedly official thread on Droid 1's froyo release and couldn't find any. Trying to get some sense on how wide/ fast its coming....

Question - does the manual update retain all apps and settings? It's pretty much like an OTA update, right?

i could have gotten it now but already updated so ill never know, same with 2.1 :|
