well the 20k people downloading it directly are going to mess up the stats...

i could have gotten it now but already updated so ill never know, same with 2.1 :|

As I did for 2.1, I'm waiting for OTA. Get too flustered when things go awry and don't have a cute nerd in-house to rescue me
:)

I heard that the official Froyo for Motorola 1 does not have the tethering option. I have simply stunning with all the bells and whistles and it works fantastic. Even overclocked to 1.25 MHz. Thanks to the developers we have more than Verizon or Motorola will give us

Mkay.

Just downloaded and installed the new update.
Seems to be working fine.
Yay!!

Just a quick question.
Assuming that this installs correctly, will I still get the update OTA from Verizon? Will I need to install it or will it recognize that the system is updated and skip the install?

Thanks.

Anyone else install flash manually from megaupload and have it running poorly? It works but the videos are practically unwatchable and really choppy

Flash has never run well for me, personally... to the point where I think it was overhyped.

Ok I've been playing with it.

Here are some things I've noticed. Games run WAY faster. Most applications run WAY faster.

News and Weather has been changed. It's blazing fast and now loads webpages rather than the ipages. The only issue is you gotta zoom and there is flash on the pages.

Pandora widget is gone.

Seems like it may be a little bit of a memory hog.

Overall seems like a good update. I was especially impressed by the game loading times. And the news and weather widget.

Loving Froyo right now, although my Market is a little slow but I think it needs a little time.

The fact that there is a new FACEBOOK app is really awesome to me!!!

The Browser with Flash now uses a huge Cache especially with Flash. I'm having to clear it otherwise it eats memory like nuts. Why can't it use the SD card..

I have downloaded and installed 2.2 / Froyo by following the very clear and consise instructions provided by Trident on Android Forums at the link above. Every step of the process was smooth and trouble free. Everything went exactly as he described it would and I can assure all of you who are asking themselves, "is this for real?" that YES, this upgrade is the real deal.

I am running 2.2! YES! :icon_ banana: It's just...awesome! I had my doubts about the rumored speed increases. Let me tell you... All I can say is... just, WOW! This is seriously like having a new computer, uh... I mean, phone. A new computer phone... Whatever... This is amazing!

I have 5 homescreens, all my apps are intact, and the new interface for the "phone", "app tray" and "browser" on every one of the five screens is VERY convenient and non-intrusive. It's pure genius.

The shift between homescreens is quite snappy, as is opening, and shifting between apps. What's funny is that I was beginning to think that my Droid wasn't all that. It was beginning to feel quite sluggish at times, and I wondered if that was simply because I was just getting used to it, and that my never ending thirst for speed had been quenched by my first experiences with Droid, and that now, I just wanted more. Well... It was true... and 2.2 has satisfied that thirst for MORE. More speed, more convenience, more screens, more satisfaction there, but, I have noticed this; When I open the "Music" app, I see a blank screen. After mounting the SD card to my PC, I see that all my music is there, but the library in the phone doesn't seem to see the files. I'm doing a battery pull as I type, and will report later as to how this works out.

Fear not. Updating manually is perfectly safe, and produces exactly the same results as an OTA update, only it's ten times faster, and two weeks sooner! It's EASY and YES, you CAN do this, even if you're a noob. Seriously. YOU CAN! Just follow the instructions and get ready for awesomeness! :icon_ banana:
