I have downloaded and installed 2.2 / Froyo by following the very clear and consise instructions provided by Trident on Android Forums at the link above. Every step of the process was smooth and trouble free. Everything went exactly as he described it would and I can assure all of you who are asking themselves, "is this for real?" that YES, this upgrade is the real deal.
I am running 2.2! YES! :icon_ banana: It's just...awesome! I had my doubts about the rumored speed increases. Let me tell you... All I can say is... just, WOW! This is seriously like having a new computer, uh... I mean, phone. A new computer phone... Whatever... This is amazing!
I have 5 homescreens, all my apps are intact, and the new interface for the "phone", "app tray" and "browser" on every one of the five screens is VERY convenient and non-intrusive. It's pure genius.
The shift between homescreens is quite snappy, as is opening, and shifting between apps. What's funny is that I was beginning to think that my Droid wasn't all that. It was beginning to feel quite sluggish at times, and I wondered if that was simply because I was just getting used to it, and that my never ending thirst for speed had been quenched by my first experiences with Droid, and that now, I just wanted more. Well... It was true... and 2.2 has satisfied that thirst for MORE. More speed, more convenience, more screens, more satisfaction there, but, I have noticed this; When I open the "Music" app, I see a blank screen. After mounting the SD card to my PC, I see that all my music is there, but the library in the phone doesn't seem to see the files. I'm doing a battery pull as I type, and will report later as to how this works out.
