Need help with bootanimation

I just downloaded the latest rom 5.09 i believe it is love it so smooth and just great work all in all. Just when i goto root exploror and copy over my bootanimation then delete the old and rename it to bootanimation.zip and close the program and reboot it still has the red droid eye bootanimation any help would be great.

JRummy / All,

I just rooted my Droid 1 finally and decided to try custom ROMS. In installed Froyo Kangerade v5.0.9 through ROM Manager. I have the red theme and it is great!

Only issue I have is with the internet for one particular site. I try to go to CJ - A Global Leader in Affiliate Marketing Programs, Online Advertising and Search Engine Marketing (Commission Junction) and it does not come up and give me an error.

I had installed BB before and i know that updated the DNS to Google DNS but I was having the same issue then just for this one site. When I installed Kangerade, i did the flashing of data and cache...i flashed the data 3 times to be safe.

What could the issue be? I have the same issue when i connect to my wifi....help please!

ZooMob

Lol...I got the same error..so I went to Google and looked at a cached page and seen just how large a page it was. Then I realized all those ads would be a problem to load since I have adblock turned on. So I turned adblock off with kangerade scripts and tried the page again. Low and behold it works. It considered the whole page an ad and blocked it.

Oh snap! I didn't even think of that....i unblocked the ads and there it was...working again....thanks!!!

whenever you have ADBlock on it changes your /system/etc/ host file and makes it so all the HostNames of known ad servers reroute to 127.0.01, effectively blocking the connection because it resolves to your phones loopback ip.

/system/etc $ cat hosts | grep cj.com
cat hosts | grep cj.com
127.0.0.1 prx.freecj.com #[MHTMLRedir.Exploit]
127.0.0.1 cj.com <---See heres that site
127.0.0.1 CJ - A Global Leader in Affiliate Marketing Programs, Online Advertising and Search Engine Marketing #[SunBelt.WWW.CJ.com]
127.0.0.1 fttcj.com
/system/etc $

so anytime you have adblock on and you notice a site isn't loading, just either turn off ADblock or edit /system/etc/hosts file to remove sites you need to view.

Thanks....that really helps as i would rather hve the ADBlock turned on...i'm new to the rooting stuff but what app would I use to edit the host file...Astro did not allow me to edit the file. I don't have Terminal on my phone...appreciate your help!

I'll try harder to start popping in this thread more :-/

Are you copying the bootanimation.zip to data/local or system/media?

I install my bootanimation to data/local and it defaults there so that might be your issue.

Currently my Absolute System has a problem with editing large text files, I'd suggest mounting your sdcard from your pc/linux/mac machine and open sdcard/goodies/hostsblock file and just edit it the way you want, then just save it, unmount and rerun ADBlock.

I'm gonna work on another method for ABsolute system to edit large text files.

bootanimations

yes i have copied it both ways from my folder in sd card to system media and done it that way renaming it to bootanimation.zip and taking out the old or renaming the old to bootanimationold.zip and i have tried the other way based on scripts where i just put the boot on the root of the sd use the script and it says succesful but when i reboot still shows up red eye. Which is not the bootanimation i have switched it with.

Look in the data/local folder and replace or delete the bootanimation.zip there.

Let me start off by saying thank you Jrummy for making such a great rom I just have a couple issues that need resolving.

Froyo Kangerade Nex Theme 5.09
Chevy ulowV1.25Ghz

1. When my phone is connected to my computer via usb (unmounted or mounted) the screen goes crazy when i touch it. For example i would open up my app folder and try to scroll down, it would flicker up and down the app folder.

2. The USB and Wi-Fi hotspot does not work I don't know if it was meant not to work or not, and the wireless tether app from the market doesn't work on it either but I'm pretty sure the wireless tether app just doesn't work on froyo roms (correct me if I'm wrong) :)

3. I don't know if this is a ROM problem or not but I can't seem to flash back to a 2.1 rom (i.e. BB1.1) (just so i can use the wireless tether)

4. Iron Theme from Jsinlegacy (Rom Manager) gets me stuck at the M.

I removed kangerade script helper to update it on the other other thread then and then realized fl was marked as private, so I thought id just run scripts from terminal emu but that's not leting me. Help please

edit. i think its just backupapps thats not working, terminal says not found but i checked to see if it was their with root explorer and it is

I need a little help with my Droid- I have it rooted and am using a Jrummy custom rom. I went to Rom Manager to update to the 5.0.9 rom and so my phone will download the package I want, then it will ask me if I want to Back up data and wipe the phone, so I select the 2 options and the phone will power off.

When the phone turns back on, the Motorola symbol just comes on for about 30 secs and then the Android symbol comes up and my phone will turn back on without installing the updated rom. I tried this on other custom roms and the same thing happens.

I tried to restore my phone back to older back ups, but nothing happens. I tried powering up my phone while holding X, and nothing happens. I feel as if something is corrupted in there?

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks!

I had this issue before. Reflash the ClockWordMod recovery and try again. If that doesn't work, just move the rom zip to the root of your sdcard and boot in to recovery then install the zip from there.

Boot to recovery is when you hold X down while turning on correct? If it is, I cant even do that. When I tried to hold X, all it did was show the M sign and then boot my phone up like usual..

flashing some things with rom manager occasionaly "breaks" your recovery, in rom manager at the bottom is expermental/alternative recoverys, flash one of those and when its done flash clockwork back.

RM wont even install the Clockworkmod for me. Sometimes when I open up RM, itll give me 3 options to chose from because it had some error. If I get that error again, Ill post it. I just know one was to contact the maker of RM, and I forget the first 2.
