You don't have to boot into recovery mode if you have root explorer installed. In root explorer you have to mount R/W first then rename it.

[After applying R2D2-bootanimationmod.zip, you can easily disable the boot animation sound by renaming /system/media/d2_r2d2_pu.ogg to something else, like d2_r2d2_pu.ogg.bak. Then, re-enabling it is as simple as renaming the file back to its original name.]

I'm trying to find a good clear case for mine. I bought one on amazon for $5 but it started to showed some cracks on the front part and I didn't even have on for a less than a day. Any suggestions? I'm new to the forums by the way and need help rooting my device.

All the cases are all junk on ebay in my opinion.
The only ones that lasted were the ones I got at the Verizon store.
Problem is all of the current stock for them have the bulge for the extended battery.
See if your local store has some of the older ones left without the bulge.

The star wars app has been discontinued.
I had it backed up from when I originally downloaded it but it will not work any longer. Uninstalled

I don't think themes for the stock ROM exist...
I changed my R2 to a Fission ROM and restored most of the Star Wars stuff from the backups.
Glad I did because the phone runs much smoother now and no random reboots.

I have the Third Eye theme on my Fission R2 with a custom MMS.apk and it is all blacked out

Thank you so much. My friend rooted and has apex on his dx so he is going to do it for me. Not I was wonderingl if I don't care about saving any of the apps can we just do the rooting and romming the normal way?

Thanks I will check it out. Ya I'm definity new to the D2. Not new to flashing roms though. I miss all the options with my OG droid. But I still really like D2.
