[Official] R2-D2 [D2] Owners Thread

I did a factory reset along with another format and the device still rebooted once on its own. Guess I'm going to have to get Verizon to send me a new one.

Edit: New device is on its way.

Something odd... It seems to be more prone rebooting on its own when it's on a charger. It's gone all day without rebooting; the second I put it on the charger - Bam!

Love it!

Got R2 last friday, and I'm OBSESSED. My boyfriend thinks I'm insane (even though he's a big star wars nerd too), but I think it's mostly because I've been ignoring him in order to play with my phone.

It's my first smart phone ever (I upgraded from an LG enV2, which was 2 years old). R2D2 is heavier than I would have expected, and it definitely takes some getting used to (I still click on things when I don't mean to, rather than scrolling), but all in all I LOVE it. I was surprised they still had them online -- I thought these things would go fast.

Anyhoo, now I'm off to browse this forum for more tips.

Starsearcher..post some photos!

I would definitely have bought an R2D2 If I was in the market right now. I'm surprised they are available still too.

Thanks for the welcome! :)

@ Cunha - I will post some pics asap (though right now I'm at work, and the only thing I have to take pics with is, well, R2).

I will say pictures look AWESOME on this - and the live wallpapers are super cool (currently mine has the matrix symbols running through it). Also love love the sounds it makes -- I think I am also guilty of talking to my phone like it actually understands me. It's fun when you can program the R2 sounds to make different ones depending on the notification (like, a long series of chirps is for gmail, a short one for texting, etc).

Also (and this is just a general Droid 2 thing) -- the navigation app is amazing! I was considering buying a new gps since my garmin died, but this app totally gets me where I need to go. LOVE.

Greetings I'm the proud new owner of r 2 d 2 droid 2. I have recently applied root to this phone 01 click root and I'm happy to say that is rooted. I I have a backup made And have applied the kangerade bluetheme. I am also a proud owner of a droid x rooted as well. owning a droid2 r2d2 I must say I'm proud to have 1. I don't hide in the shadows I'm quite secure with my masculinity and comfortable with my social status should not be ashamed that I own 1. I purchased a clear case so that I show it loud and proud. do you have 1 out there. when I learn how to post links to the icons I will do so forgive me for being a newbie. I do have some star wars icons that work quite well on the phone.

you had no problem applying the theme? from what ive read so far people were saying not to apply roms to r2 yet. i think im just new and confused by all the tech talk but i think i recall someone saying not to do it till there was an sbf (not that im even sure i understand what the sbf is.)

Greetings.I am glad you have one as well. I should have listed the additional work on r2d2.I also put ang clean pro bs etc rom on as well.this lists as starwars clean etc in rom section of forum.I admit it wiped all r2d2 off of phone.I have the back up and might to get the astromech back again. Rom works perfectly and indeed it is starwars clean and free which does allow for rom to be added as I have the kangerade blue theme on as well.if you have bootstrap and back up made you should be safe and secure. Good luck and happy rooting.

I got my R2-D2 last Wednesday. I'm really liking it so far. It's kind of weird going from a DROID to it. I really don't like the UI of the stock 2.2. It runs LauncherPro pretty good though. Another week or two and I'll be used to it. I've already made 3 co-workers very jealous of it, so that is already a definite plus.
