Official Thread: Gingerbread Leak With Root! Get It Now!

Thanks to all...

This was my first time rooting and upgrading solo and I couldn’t have done it without this forum and its users. Thanks to all… My Droid-x, over-clocked to 1.3g has been running like a Swiss watch with this .573 leak.

I jumped on this leak from the start. Maybe I should say I jumped the gun when all the talk about the Gingerbread OTA stuff started, but I certainly don’t regret it.

Lost Barnacle with the .573 leak and hit the 3g pay-wall of course, so I applied the 3g patch. Even through I hardly ever need to use tether, I really miss Barnacle - 3g isn’t the same. Any talk about getting WiFi tether back on Gingerbread.

ok so i got GB right when it came out and got the updates later on when those rolled out too and i just recently went back to froyo to do some testing for themes and i just restored an old back up of liberty 1.5 and my phone is much faster then it was on GB i really love GB and the new blur stuff they added like with the app drawer and just a bunch of other little things but froyo seems to much faster like as animations ans loading things just thought i throw that out there..

ok...I am a little lost. I saw the instructions on the first page and followed them. I already had a rooted rom Rubix 1.9.7 and I just ran the bootstrap recovery. it didnt specify that i needed to use bootstrap for droid 2. Is that for something else or did I do it right? Its working fine for me right now but was just curious

Went for it last night and so far so good. Using Launcher Pro still and seems to be solid. Whats the deal with getting rid of all the stupid stuff like blockbuster and amazon apps.

anyone else getting FC on opening certain apps. Mainly Angry Birds, Doodle Bowling, Stupid Zombies. So I guess the games that are large files. I have to move it from the phone to the SDcard and it starts up fine. But I like it on the phone cause it runs faster and smoother. Seems like every few days when I try to open the apps I have to move them back and forth

When going from a froyo rom to a gingerbread rom, NEVER restore apps data! I could explain, but I'm hungry!

So I found the latest version of this on my Droid World, and it says to use the Droid 2 Bootstrapper App. Why is that you have to use the D2 BS app, instead of the DX App. Kinda doesn't make sense to me lol

The install of Gingerbread was easy. First impressions for people who are watching this thread:

It was slow at first, slower than Froyo but after a few reboots it is way faster than Froyo. The spellchecker is more annoying and I'll prob turn it off.

Wifi tether doesn't work even with the TBH patch. The user interface is better than Froyo. The music player is better than Froyo and has an equalizer.

My battery life has sucked so far, but I'll give it a few days. The hard keys at the bottom are freaking bright. I used adjbrightness to turn the backlight off.

My battery life is great. And GB runs pretty smooth overall. I did notice that the hard keys are bright as hell, as well. What's the fix for that?

They are pretty bright and my battery sucks a lil more now. There are alot of add ons like if you play music and lock the screen you can now hide the play and pause buttons (:!!
