Official Thread: Gingerbread Leak With Root! Get It Now!

it would be nice if the OP could be updated with some more detailed instructions. i.e. go from froyo --> gingerbread version (??)--> gingerbread version from this thread.

That would be like, hell of sweet. Especially for the people trying to flash these roms from froyo and ending up in bootloops.

please :)

Agree with the above. A note clarifying this (save many bootloopers) and maybe even a link to someones install page for an GB earlier version would be much appreciated. Thanks

Last night everything was cranking away just fine and I woke up this morning and found my phone was off. When I turned it on, it kept bootlooping and I couldn't get into recovery; I sbf'd back to "VRZ_MB810_2.3.34_1FF_01.sbf" and that's where I'm stuck. It's just the M logo... I can't get into recovery, but I can get into the RSD mode or whatever it's called.

[EDIT] Just re-downloaded it from 1kdsdroidx's website. Same issue. I'm trying the one from AndroidChat.org. Hopefully this one works better!

[EDIT 2] Nope... same exact thing. It's definitely not a bad download like I had initially thought. Any ideas?

[EDIT 3] WOO HOO! http://www.droidxforums.com/forum/d...-solution-your-windows-rsd-lite-problems.html What a life saver! If you run into this problem, TRY THIS METHOD! :D

Not to mention if you actually read through the first 10 pages all posts are actually referring to an older version of GB than what is now posted in the OP because it was updated. So that information is now incorrect for this version.

I was running .588 for a week and then sbf'd back to Froyo. I now want to run .595 but I cannot find the link for the .588 zip. If anybody could help me out, I'd appreciate it.

I tried the files that were listed above and everywhere else online and they sucked. I wiped my phone for nothing and when I tried to install the 3 zip files, they kept saying they couldn't be found, installation aborted.

I want the file that was linked in the first post before it was edited. I was stupid to delete that off my SD card.

[EDIT 3] WOO HOO! Linux solution to your Windows/RSD lite problems What a life saver! If you run into this problem, TRY THIS METHOD! :D

Thanks for Linking This! Just what I need. For some reason RSD Lite just won't install on my computer so this is perfect.

I'm running the .595 Gingerbread came up through all the leaks as they came out. I'm having issues with the touch screen lagging. This happens 5-6 times a day. It becomes totally responsive for 2-3 minutes then it works great. I tried uninstalling a bunch of apps to see if there was one not playing nicely with gingerbread but with no results. Is there any chance that the odexed version may help this issue. I'm not interested in themes right now, just don't want to go back to froyo. Gingerbread seems like a must have already, can't wait for ice cream:)

I am currently on .573. What do I need to do to update. And call me silly but just what is deodexed and whatnot. I don't remember what one I installed when this rooted GB came out but i'll say I will not go to another rom. NOTHING is as great and battery life for me almost doubled comparing the best rom before.

If someone would be kind enough to point in right direct that is great. If its just an update or something i'll get it done!

Moroney - google the word deodexed, that's what I did. Then decide which you want. Read up a page or two, or first page, and follow the directions that others have given. You should be able to install with no problems on top of what you're on.

Need some help. I like using the multi touch keyboard however just this morning it is really making me mad. I can only get a weird our two in and if I hit the spacebar it closes the keyboard. So I have to re hit the space to open keyboard and again no matter what do it closes the keyboard after hiting the space bar. I am using swype now just fine. I dont mind it but I an a two finger typer! I will update the new version but I had this running perfect for a month and by far best rom ever. Battery everything is just so smooth hope the new versions work.

Sent from my DROIDX using DroidForums

I also want to add I used Droid X boostrapper to load this 573 and had no issues for a long time. And still don't if I ignore this typing thing. I want to do update now should I relaly just use droid 2 bootstrapper or what!

clear learned words or user dictionary

Try going in to the settings for language and keyboard and clear learned words. This is how I was able to stop the text box from closing when I hit the spacebar when in a message.

Wow, I have read so much on GB!
I guess I need my handheld a little but I'm still not gettingthe proper path with these roms.

Originally I thought I had to sbf, then install .588 THEN install .595 using d2 bootstrapper.

BUT, the first line of the post instructions conflicts with that :The upgrade path does not include those who are on Gingerbread .573/.588/.591"

Then in reading posters say you indeed do need to be on a previous version of GB to go to .595.....

So please, take me by the hand and lead me...
I'm on rooted 2.3.340

I hate sbfing cause I have to drive 30 mins to a verizon tower to reprogram (I am seriously in the boonies) but realize I will probably have to.

I have backups of my 2.3.340 right after upped to froyo.

Do I need to be running .588 or can I restore directly from froyo to the files in this thread?

Don't squeeze too hard please....
