Older....Official D1-MIUI-0.12.3.2

jusstttt woke up, and see people are having a few problems with the MMS app. also see jamzelle is working on getting it fixed, so should i wait til 0.12.3.2 is released?

If your already on a 12.3 release just remove the mms.apk from the zip and then flash it. Everything else about it is fine.

Ringtone - settings/common/ringtones. Also make sure ur on the 12.3 build 11.26 wudnt let u change ringtones. Also when you have a msg you u want to save just long press it and select copy attachment to sdcard. It usually drops it into your gallery under downloaded.

Is English a second language for you, or are your reading comprehension skills really, really bad? publicanimal and jamezelle have both confirmed that there is no more long-press and "copy attached to SD card" function anymore, starting with the 11.26 update. Also, I'm not trying to set my ringtone - that's done. I'm trying to set individual ringtones for specific contacts, like my girlfriend and my daughter.

Can you "Master Droids" get over yourselves for a few minutes and make sure what you're telling people to do is actually right? I've been using MIUI for 6 weeks now, so while I'm not one of the early adopters, I do know my way around. I'm not asking stupid newbie questions, so don't treat them as such. I can only imagine how many people are leaving this amazing ROM because of all the bad advice that's so carelessly doled out.

And, for the record, if you flashed 11.26 over 11.19, you could still set your notifications, both ringtones and LED. Were you aware of that?

Wow, really man? Are you this big a jerk all the time or are you one of these people who get "tough guy syndrome" when your blogging cuz your that insecure about yourself? Take it easy on the poor excited kids who are trying to help.

Yeah, just relax. You'll get your answers a lot quicker if you're just a little respectable and appreciative. Okay, go to contacts, scroll to the contact, click their name, their contact card should appear. It shows their number with the call option on the left, text option on the right. Under it says what group their in. Under that it shows the ringtone option. Under the ringtone option it has a favorite tab and a send contact tab. Click the ringtone option that's right above that. It's the only thing in there that says default.

EDIT: I saw that you found it so you're good to go. No problem.

And DJ Carpenter, I appreciate your attempt at helping me, but when I try to edit contact and click on their name, all it does is bring up the keyboard to change their name.

Thank you, DJ, I found it. I was going into the "Edit Contact" screen as someone else had suggested earlier, and that's one step too far. I appreciate you taking the time to answer the question I was asking and making sure the answer was right instead of just assuming I was an idiot and giving me an answer that hasn't been right for three updates now.

Do you think I purposely gave you incorrect info? I don't use the features you having problems with so I'm blindly helping you. If it doesn't work who care bro? I mean honestly is it that big a deal to mad about it. We are all here to help we just sometimes don't understand what's being asked. Simply need you to be patient with us during the process. Nobody here is out to get you, or giving you bad info purposely to screw with you. Is that to much to ask?

Nah, I'm not normally a jerk, but if you look, the guy not only didn't answer the question I was asking, he also told me something that was completely untrue. If I hadn't spent most of the day yesterday conferring with jamezelle and publicanimal for confirmation that the "Save attached to SD card" functionality was gone, I probably would've assumed that the ROM didn't work on my phone and switched back to another one. This ROM is gaining immense popularity because it's being mentioned on the "bigger" Android-related sites now, but in order for it to maintain that momentum, the people who respond to user questions need to make sure they're committed to giving the correct answers and that they've done their due diligence to ensure that those answer are, in fact, correct. Nobody likes being treated like they're stupid, and yes, I realize that my words to jellybean have made me just as guilty of that as him, so I'd like to apologize for getting upset and hopefully he'll accept my apology.

Sorry to start a fight. You're right it's not on the edit screen its on the main contact screen. New user guide comment was directed at the poster several of in front of you said he needed a user's manual. I must've hit reply instead of quote. Glad you got it figured out.

Yeah leave the dama on other forums .. its not needed here .. if someone answers your question wrong you can politely say its not the information you were looking for .. no need to be rude here

I have to semi-agree with webeougher a little bit, a lot of mis-information goes out from folks genuinely having good intentions and wanting to help.

Unfortunately some folks are a little quick on the draw and answer with something they had previously read not realizing that the fix does not apply to the current release.

I think everyone needs to take a step back and remember why we are here and that we are playing with roms that are still in development.

Nuff Said!

Hey webeougher, I thought of a temporary solution for not being able to save attached pics from MMS that involves using the native screenshot feature.

Tap the attached photo to open it in the Gallery, then long press the menu button and hit down on the volume bar. This will take a screen shot that will show up on your SD Card in the /MIUI folder (it doesn't give you any notification that it took a screen shot). The only downside is it will have the zoom - / + magnifying glasses in the bottom right, but otherwise it allows you to sidestep the issue without needing to download any extra apps.

EDIT:

Even better solution, if you download Astro File Manger and open the pics in the Astro Image Viewer (this will now be one of your options when tapping the pic from the MMS), the magnifying glasses won't appear when you long press the menu button, allowing you to take a perfect screen capture of your photos. When you first open the pics a black bar might appear at the bottom of the screen but if you wait a few seconds it will go away, then long press menu and hit down on volume bar and you've got yourself a nice copy of the pic on your SD card.

The Astro screen captures will show the notification bar at the top, but you could always edit that out later. Gallery screen captures will not show the notification bar at the top, but you can't keep the magnifying glasses from showing up on top of the image.

I'm using 11. 26. 1 on my Dinc (most recent available through ROM Manager for Dinc) and I have some questions.

1. Is there a way to config the MIUI music player to also access music on SD card?

2. I don't see a MIUI video player. Is there one?

3. Although this UI very unique, to rearrange ones apps/widgets locations seems very labor intensive. Is there a way, like through a pc interface, to arrange home screens in a more efficient manner?

I actually just tried it, and it rebooted my phone. :-/ But it was definitely a good suggestion...I'll just have to keep using Save MMS until the feature is restored. Incidentally, who talks to the Chinese devs and suggests features? Was that on this site or MIUI-devs?

Edit: I'll try the Astro route now.

Change name to Snookie. Lol

We all try to help each other. This is still a beta rom..so expect to do a little workaround sometimes. I think that's part of the fun of miui. Can't get upset if we all can find answers right away...just be patient. Everyone here is nice and helpful...except zero barrier...lol. Jk homie. We are all good at something around here and putting our heads together we find answers. Publicanimal is a valued member in this forum who has helped a lot of ppl since zen-miui v1. He would not intentionally give misinformation.

Relax..share..be occasionally sarcastic (in jest of course) and all is well
