If they got theirs at release date, then their one year warranty is up, and they wouldn't be able to get a replacement.
correct, got mine the 2nd day it was out. plus Verizon is pretty ridiculous about the whole replacement thing. even when i still had the warranty on it, i brought it in and they said they couldnt help me because there was damage to the housing....the "damage" they were referring to was a slightly bent battery cover which came from my older Droid (because Verizons too cheap to supply another one) and denied me any ability to get another phone. and sorry to say, im not trying to spend $90 on another refurb one when ill most likely be getting something else soonIf they got theirs at release date, then their one year warranty is up, and they wouldn't be able to get a replacement.
DJ,
Its a known issue with alot of droids. There is a thread from way back when. Im on my second droid. First one had keyboard issues. This one has a crappy headphone hole. I heard moto made it too large so it doesnt fit snug on some of them.
Plus I dont wanna spend the time to unroot, go in, wait a week for my new/refurbed droid, spend more time to root and install everything else lol.
I may be a little lazy

Using RSDLite takes maybe 5 min. to unroot. And I must be damn lucky, when I went in to get my first Droid replaced 2 weeks ago, I left the store 15 min. after walking in with a perfectly functioning refurb; I'm inclined to think it's working better than my previous one that I got new. The only thing that almost bothers me is that my previous one had a bit more "bubble" on the KB than the refurb, but that's not such a big issue to me as I only use the KB 10% of the time when I want to type something.

I use my keyboard 90% of the time which is why Im so huge on getting a feature built in so I can use the enter key to send a text

PS - [most] of the people that work for Verizon Customer Service, have no knowledge of what theyre doing in the first place. the ones in my area are dumber than a sack of whale sh*t...

funny you should say "bubble", ive had to resort to using the physical keyboard 0% of the time, it doesnt even work for me because about 4 weeks into having it, i woke up and the entire keyboard was one big bubble and you csant press it down enough to even use the keys. ive been trying as hard as i can to just suck it up and deal with it because surprisingly, everything ive tried doing on this refurb has worked perfectly. i havent had a problem flashing any roms, it likes any kernel (except chevy) and it just runs smooth. terrible physical keyboard though

Sorry to hear that. It really does depend on what the rep is like or how he/she feels, I guess. Because even with the 2 fairly obvious dings on the outer edge of the screen housing (scratched metal showing the metallic color underneath), the rep that helped me didn't even hesitate to get mine replaced.
I went in because the speaker stopped functioning, and he asked me if it was OK to try a factory reset to see if it would fix that issue; so I said sure because I had backed everything up beforehand, but then he said that he would just get a replacement from the back for me just to make it quicker.
