Older....Official D1-MIUI-0.12.3.2

deleted gmail from the system/app, rebooted then downloaded it from the market. it worked.

I can't load the new Update for Gmail either. how did you get tot he system/app? I'm in the App manager menu and the "uninstall button" is grayed out as in I can not click on it. Am I doing it wrong?

Download the free terminal emulator from the market and follow my instructions. Or, as others here use, get root explorer and use that to delete the file. Once it is deleted, reboot then re-download Gmail from the market.

yeah, my post was about root explorer. if you dont have that, use the other persons instructions. i should have been more specific.

I'm sure this has been said. Sorry for this but... Do we need to wipe if coming from 11.26?

Most have had success without wiping. I would flash, and if you have trouble then wipe - but you shouldn't.

Is anyone else receiving video mms as slideshows with an attached audio file? Also, it won't let me attach any video, no matter how small, to an outgoing mms. This was a confirmed bug in previous version(s) but is marked as "Done" in the bug tracker.

This is a known issue, Jamezelle is working on it.

On a side note, it appears that the Gingerbread Keyboard is the culprit for themes not working. There is a thread on miui-dev with alot of nexus one owners with the same problem, flashed new keyboard= can't change themes. jamezelle posted a fix a couple of pages back that works.

i told EVERYONE who were installing via zip vs my method that they would have issues... nobody listens :)

I'm using 12.3.2 and everytime i try and update pocket legends i get an error. I tried uninstalling and rebooting then installing it but it did not work. I ran logcat and it says
I/packagehelper(2387): size of container 29MB
E/packagehelper(2387):failed to create a secure container smd2tmp1.
E/defcontainer(2387):failed to create container smd2tmp1

This happened with a handful of other apps. Some apps will install but certain apps will not for some reason

I like that game ha

Crud. I can't remember how to do this. I tried to do it with a terminal emulator, but it says the the file system is read-only. I can't remember how to change it to read-write in order to delete the Gmail.apk file.

tap Mount R/W at the top of the root explorer screen

I don't have root explorer, at least that I know of. Does that come with MIUI? I didn't see it. I ended up doing it manually, like this:

#su
# mount -o rw,remount /system
# rm -r /system/app/Gmail.apk

Then I rebooted and reinstalled from the market.[/QUOTE

]Is this exactly right? I tried it and received an error message after the third line because the file was still read only.

do this

if your doing it via adb then do

Code:
adb remount
adb shell
rm /system/app/Gmail.apk
reboot
then install it from the market

OR

if your doing it from a terminal app on your phone do

Code:
su
busybox mount -o remount,rw /system
rm /system/app/Gmail.apk
sync
reboot

then install it from the market

My mistake was that I left out the space between remount and /system.

Thanks.

I suppose it could be the culprit. It may also be a kernel issue? If your sig is updated, perhaps try using one of Chevy's kernels and see if that doesn't help. I had been using Slayher's 1.1 gig kernel and noticed my phone got really hot easily, and my battery didn't last as long. I downloaded Chevy's LV 1.1gig, and now my phone runs so cool with great battery life.

It's hard to say what the problem is because the results that people have vary so greatly.

And think, you could have saved yourself all that time and all that trouble if you had just long pressed the 99complete file in root explorer, scrolled down the list of options and chosen to "Edit with text editor".

But why take the easy road, right?

If there were a comprehensive roll up thread, perhaps I'd have known this was even an option. Thanks for your patience & understanding.

This is a known issue and has been discussed. To get correct timestamp you can use hanscent.
