OTA 5.8.894 spotted in the wild

Will it be possible if a dev comes along and creates unique upgrade patches for each type of leaked upgrade already released, similar to what we've seen with past ones? I upgrades to 5.7.893, back to stock to attempt the update to 8.894 this morning, but failed because of the updated radio and kernel I have.

For all of you guys that are having it fail, one thing you guys need to look at it is to make sure your 100% stock aside from the kernel and radio . I've flashed back and forth with a ton of updates from cheesecake and learned alot. I kept having failures and realized that webtop was missing, reflashed webtop and guess what? It installed successfully! Another time I was having failures, I realized after 4 or 5 times that the battery framework was still in 10% increments, when stock is 20%, changed the framework back to 20% and it installed successfully the first time.

Particularly if you have flashed ANY custom roms, because changing the battery framework is one of the most popular mods out there.

Having a different radio/kernel hasn't prevented me flashing an update yet!

Keep in mind that most of the "recovery" methods do NOT restore webtop and if you have flashed any updates from cheesecake you most likely don't have webtop anymore! The only way I've found to restore webtop is to grab the Zip and use moto fastboot commands in command prompt

What's the stock version for webtop? I restored to WT-1.3.0-105_DBN-1 and it won't update still. Have you managed to upgrade to 8.894 after already having a updated kernel and baseband but stock otherwise?

Very helpful and very promising. Can you point me to instructions for getting and re-installing Webtop via fastboot ?

Thanks.

These are the instructions I used to get webtop back:

How to get your phone back on the upgrade path...

To answer another question: No I haven't done the 8.894 update because I returned to stock to see if I could accept and install the soak test OTA. Still waiting for that very impatiently!!! Getting ready to flash this newest update because I'm getting tired of waiting.

Ya that was the same guide I followed. It puts my webtop back at WT-1.3.0-105_DBN-1 (which I assume is stock)? Still can't update :(

You may want to try downloading the update from the cheesecake servers a couple of times, sometimes when the servers are busy (like the first couple of days after a new release) you can end up with a bad download. I've had it happen a few times even with other download sources.

Ya I tried it several times. Guess one more won't hurt, but I'm pretty sure from my reading if the radio/kernel don't match the update file is expecting it halts. Hopefully someone can find a way around this.

Have you tried downloading the zip from this thread, going into stock recovery and flashing manually? That may work. I know that it gets aggravating, but there is alot of trial and error involved in the android world. You just never know what combination of things will work, and you'd be really surprised about some of the stupid things that work. That's one thing I really miss about SBF files. I never had a failure when trying to flash an SBF file using RSD lite, and I haven't been able to flash the FXZ files successfully yet.

Fails when I do that as well. I get
"assert failed: apply_patch_check("MTD:boot:<random_letters_and_numbers>") E: Error in /tmp/sideload/package.zip (status 7) Installation aborted."
I've checked the update against the crc that also gets downloaded, it's 100% correct.
Did a factory reset and cache reset just to be sure. So it appears we will have to wait until a full rom is released, not an incremental patch :(

Thanks!! I flashed WEBTOP, despite thinking I already had it as it showed up under SYSTEM/ABOUT. I'm getting an itchy trigger finger and may go 8.894

What baseband do you have ripper2860? Unless it's stock the update won't work, the patch only works with the stock baseband and kernel right now.

I've never flashed a leaked OTA/Cheesecake update -- only ROMs. I was on SYSTEM image from Th3oryrom [R3]BLURR3D but have flashed back to the standard/odexed and bloated .886 SYSTEM.IMG. Baseband Radios and Kernel are STOCK.
