Overclock - A REAL new phone experience.

that background is an EPIC WIN

I will post it before I go to bed.

suhweeeettttt lol. thanks. haha that statement was so.. to the point.

by the way. droidforums. all my new friends... i fully charged me droid this morning til 7 am. then i went to school. it died by three. it was OC'ed to 800mhz. i fully recharged it again. and it went down to 40% after using it for 30 mins straight. that seems rediculous to me. so now. i will be running a mix of 800 and stock 550... i also had my profiles set... so yeah. overclocking takes a MAJOR toll on your battery's charge

just thought i would let ya know :D

Here ya go.

Thanks for the review. I've been thinking about it but haven't got around to it yet. Might take the plunge tomorrow. Trying to figure out which ROM I want to go with.

You don't need a ROM. I installed a rom and immediately uninstalled it. I like the way my phone is set up now.

I went with this guide :

AllDroid - View topic - Droid is stable at 800MHz. Nuff said *950MHz, 1.1GHz added*

flashed the evilboot8.img file (this took me forever, I was running in circles getting SPrecovery, nandroid files, etc etc) and set setCPU to "detect speed" and my phone just straight up rocks.

Maybe you'll get lucky and you can do the whole process in under 30 minutes.. it was a 3 hour odyssey for me last night. But, I was bored and I love doing this kind of stuff so its time well spent, and the results were fantastic.

I am seriously thinking of rooting so I can OC but dont really think I want a new rom, can you root and OC without changing anything else??

You'll need to flash a new kernel but you won't have to replace the rom.

Yeah, I run my own rom and just flashed a 1ghz kernel with kernel enhancement/fixes in it. Its pretty straightforward, depending on where you put your flash_image.

I'll be interested to see how your droids are in 5 or 6 months of running overclocked. That should be about the time 2.1 finally comes out and I will be ready to jump into the root world. (HAHA just kidding about the 2.1 coming out in 5 or 6 months. Im sure we will be getting it any day now. wink wink LOL) Seriously though you guys are really making me want to root.

Try that one.

Back up your crap first though. I guarantee you will feel a difference.

Its a nandroid backup of my current setup at 1ghz. If you aren't familiar with nandroid, don't mess with it.
