why do you recommend the powersave bias to be at 0?

I really don't recommend anything. I think everyone should try and find out what works for them. Especially because every Droid is technically different.

The settings I use are based off of 60+ hours of testing. Originally my plan was on using a 1.2ghz Low Voltage kernel for the life of my Droid and use power bias to not allow it to get to 1.2Ghz unless the system really needed it. But as I tested, I found that 1.2Ghz was simply overkill. The only program that could actually use it was Google Earth. So I stepped back down to a 7 slot 1.0Ghz low voltage kernel. Once I did that, I found I didn't need a power bias for daily use because I was able to go 24 hours between charges.

If I was forced to use a Medium Voltage kernel, I firmly believe I would need to use Power Bias to help get me to 24 hours between charges.

Part 3 of this thread was scrapped the second I heard whispers of 2.2 actually being out in the wild. And now that I have it, I am testing 2.2 beta 2 with SetCPU to see what Advanced settings can now do.

Ok thank you. I shall keep messing around with it then

So you need to be rooted to DL and use the SetCPU correct? Im going to go search but how do i do a good backup incase something goes wrong, and I do assume we do backups onto our computers lol?

Thanks..noooobie! (still reading)

I can't wait for everything to be done in this for 2.2, since that is all I run. I really like ready this! It's a great read, as I mentioned before! :P

very cool - can't wait to get back from vaca w/ family to study this stuff... ok not really about the vaca, but i can't wait to study this stuff regardless :)

Phase 4 is up. Which means the baseline testing is now complete. Extended testing now begins.

Advanced Settings

And something WONDERFUL happened by accident to help put Phase 4 testing into perspective.

Perhaps you will indulge a Noob. I loaded up Pete's froyo rom with the 800mhz. I also loaded SetCPU but never ran it. I then loaded up P3Droid's 1.25 (series 2) kernel but when I booted up and tried Quadrant, she FCd me. OK I moved the bar (slot) to 1.1GHZ and have had no more problems with FCing.

I now have the CPU Governor at ondemand, Auto-refresh and Set on Boot are both checked.

If you go into advanced, my setting shows 32000,50,0,0 but I thought I had set the Up Threshold to 70 per my buddy Czerdrill....Advanced is also set on set-on boot. I also chaged all of the profiles per Czerdrill (again thanks) and have them all checked "enabled".

Why is the Up Threshold changing and what are your recommendations....

Thanks guys,..
Marc (da noob)

Incredible thread!
Subscribed for results on NOT USING setcpu AND using stock 2.2 kernel on custom rom.
Setcpu and kernels go over my head. I'm using a custom rom for froyo 2.2 on my droid and I'd love to see the results that you have in the future.

I'll see your changing Up Threshold and raise you a "When I reboot I lose all advanced settings and my phone is always clocked at 600Mhz till I tap the max slider".

I have no clue why we are seeing some issues with SetCPU under Froyo 2.2. But I am working on it. :)

And this "Trying this as my daily" is my current settings.

lol...I am just wondering if I am doing the setup correctly and if so, what you would recommend my Advanced setting be set at. I wondered if having checked "enabled" in all my profiles or "set on boot" in Advanced was the correct thing to do. Heck I even have CPU Governor checked for auto refresh as well as Set on Boot, lol....I hope those are correct settings.

I know this isn't the appropriate thread but I just gotta say, I haven't loved an electronic device this much since the HP-12C Financial calculator came out in the Eighties, lol
