Suddenly a breaking announcement the following morning... Verizon to release Galaxy Nexus on Tuesday November 22nd.

If they release this phone with little to no fanfare, I will be absolutely shocked and it will all but guarantee this phone to be a complete failure. Maybe awesome for the dev and modding community but outside of that, no one will buy it. I just don't understand why VZW is barely acknowledging it's existence.

The more I think about it, the more delays of some sort make sense. I don't see this phone just dropping out of the sky on us without some ad campaign.

Have you not seen the ads on Google for the past 3 weeks? It's being advertised just not by Verizon. I think more people know about this phone than we think, maybe not like we know it but they know it exists. Think of how many people use Google everyday and multiply that by 3 weeks, it's a lot. I think Verizon is saving their money and letting Google get the word out and when it releases on Verizon they do a short teaser commercial like they did with the OG so people know it's on their network.

The average consumer walks into a Verizon store and makes a purchase based on what they see that day. Most of the time they're purchasing out of necessity.

I was thinking. Maybe that's the way VZW wants it. They probably want this nonbloated phone to fail so they can say "See? We told ya so. No more nonbloated phones for us cuz they don't sell worth a damn!"

That's my theory on why they are trying to kill this phone...

right so they buy the iPhone or the android phone with the most bells and whistles, which the Nexus won't be.

These same points were brought up about the bionic before it was released. I don't think the ads started running until 5 or 6 days before the device released. On top of that I think the majority of people make their decisions when they walk into store or when they log into the website. Being able to throw out 4.65" screen and ICS will move a lot of phones to people that walk in undecided.

I'd certainly love to believe this, but who exactly is this guy? And why is he credible?

I kind of disagree though, I think the average consumer will be more interested in "Beats by Dr Dre" or the fancy OEM UI's.
