P3Droid: Some Food for Thought - Bootloaders, Rooting, Manufacturers, and Carriers

This is a classic "string them along" tactic. Mind you, I'm not saying that he is making anything up at all. I'm saying that the time for vague and dramatic hints has come and gone. It reminds me of soap operas or shows like Lost, that use cliff-hangers and mysterious, undefined plot devices to keep audiences on the edge of their seats for the payoff revelation, but then only deliver another mysterious, undefined cliff-hanger to spur the show along.

I think its more of the web traffic = money tactic.

When I asked about all of this he started cracking up saying he read this too and thinks it's hilarious. It is actually a running joke right now in Corp VZW.

I don't know about that. I'm looking out my front window and their is a Black truck with a big red VZW swoosh down the side with 2 guys using binoculars looking at my apartment.

Hold on............ok I'm typing this from my bathroom on my laptop. They are snooping around my place right now. Both wear black suits and dark sunglasses. I'm getting real scared. Hold on..........

ok I moved into my bunker that I built a while back preparing for the Chinese to invade (yeah it's coming in a month but thats another topic) I'm starting to believe there may be some truth to this.

Hold on..........ok I moved into a deeper chamber so that couldn't intercept my post. Anyway guys be on the lookout for any strange events happening around your homes/apartments if your rooted. Hold on..............ok I cut the oxygen off in case one of them is in here somewhere and I don't know about it....one sec..........ok I got some scuba gear on so I can breathe. Anyway, you may want to go back to stock until this all blows over. You never know.

Ehh, you're right that it's tangible. They did it and thus it's unauthorized to circumvent it. But I believe the bold portion is dubious and debatable. If something like this were ever taken to a court of law, I have my doubts as to whether it would hold up or not.



If you're referring to part "e" of their "End Service" section, that is customarily interpreted as meaning hardware specifications. "Software" is never explicitly mentioned. Additionally, it is somewhat illogical to assume it refers to software as that changes constantly. As soon as you were pushed an OTA Gingerbread or Froyo update from the carrier, they would then be able to cut off your service, according to that interpretation.

1) It would hold up in a court of law with zero issues. In fact I doubt a lawsuit would make it past the filing review process.

2) First the phone is the whole of the software and hardware, so they don't need to specify either of them individually. They have the right to change the software at will. And in fact they can force you to take the update because the phone is now out of compliance with their intended operations until you do.

I'm done with all this nerds. I'm moving out into the middle of the Colorado Wilderness. The Chinese and VZW will never find me and my phone. I'll lay traps all over the woods. ha ha....VZW spy....that's great. I will have you know I am probably their worst customer. I have had 5 Venus's, 6 Voyagers, 4 Env Touch, 5 Droid 1's, and 9...yes 9 Droid 2's since I joined VZW....that was Jan of 2009.

I complain so much it isn't even funny. I have had VZW pick up bills to keep me happy, comp me phone after phone after phone after phone after phone after phone after phone, now when I call I get straight to corp support....I guess there is a note in my account.

I wont go on but I will say this....I haven't had a single phone replaced since I rooted. Well....except my wife's when she decided to lose it for a second time only 2 days after I recovered it from being stolen.

Trust me....not a spy.... conspirator maybe....but not spy.

Well now I know its all true. I just barely escaped the Verizon thugs in the mall kiosk, they went the regular guys they had black trench coats and dark sunglasses thought it was a little strange. I've never rooted but I have tethered a few times. They must have known, as I walked by they started to follow me. It was a chase through the mall lucky the tj max was having a sale gave me just enough time to get away. Got out the doors and jumped in my car as I sped away I could hear them yell we will find you and when we do you will be sorry. I just don't know how they figured me out they must have something that scaned my apps...

I dont know p3 so I am not gonna speak for or against his character on this or any other issue. I know this if the people from tbh is saying their hack can be detected then I am gonna remove the hack. If they turn out to be wrong then I lose nothing.
