Pricing info leaked for the HTC Thunderbolt and the Motorola XOOM

they should rename it to the motorola welfare cuz thats what ur gonna need after buying it:icon_eek:

2 questions.

1) i've missed the hardware specs somewhere whats the hard drive size?
20 i'm assuming that price is outright and you'll be able to go month to month with data?

With the loss of new every two and annual upgrades I hope that the thunderbolt pricing is not going to be the new standard. $250 on a two year.... means $320 for a one year contract. Yikes!

Well, aside from the tablet price, doesn't look too bad for the Thunderbolt for a 2-yr contract. Only $50 more, basically, for LTE.

Of course, I assume the more powerful dual core phones such as the Bionic will be more like $300. None of that is unexpected, but it's good to know we won't have an unpleasant surprise. Now we just wait for LTE data pricing.

Larry, the Elocity is crap. I had one and returned it. I got the Nook Color and it rocks. It's cheaper too.

I WAS a dedicated Motorola fan, but now. . . . let the price wars start, and I will wait and see. $800 that is my mortgage for the month.

Nook Color is a great WiFi tablet and I will rock that for only $250, overclock it to 1GHZ, and root it to Froyo!!!

That's whats wrong with the android tabs...or maybe its the companies...trying to make a zillion dollars off a free OS. Just charge us for the hardware...throw a little in for the wife and kids and give us a decent priced device. The nook color is an excellent android tablet, but i just dont see where these tablets are bringing much more functionality over the android phones...Ill wait for the next round of tablets and see what they comeout with.

I really like the 7" screen format for everything and with Zeam it is very configurable.

I couldn't agree with you more. I'd love a tablet, but I am planning on a small laptop.

I am just saying... for $800 and a 2 year contract to boot... I could get a laptop that would outperform the tab in every way, be bigger screen, whatever... and I could do it for less money and have no contract.

Don't get me wrong, the nerd in me wants a tablet.. i really do.. but I just can't figure out a good reason to do it.

OK, I stopped reading after the first page so sorry if someone already said this:

Guys, MAP is SUGGESTED price. At worst $800 is the early-adopter price for the XOOM. A whole bunch of factors will bring that price down: time after release date, release of the iPad2, release of other tablets in the same niche (e.g., Asus), and most importantly, release of the wifi model.

We'll see wifi units at $500 by July (my prediction). I still think that's a lot, but remember that we've been seeing a lot of $100 and $200 no-name tablets (and carrier-subsidized phones) for a while, which has warped our expectations. I had been hoping that good tablets would settle into the netbook pricepoint at $300, but I think $400-$600 is where they will probably stick.

Did anyone else notice the R2D2?????

The whole lineup of Droid 2 must've been a disaster for Motorola... D1 outsold it 3 to 1. Even though it outnumbers the D1 3 to 1 in different varieties... D2, R2D2, D2G.

Would you Nook owners do me a favor? If you get a chance, come visit the subforum at androidtablets.net (Nook), and chime in with a quick hello. In particular, we have a thread that's tracking the post count for Nook owners vs. Huawei S7 owners (the S7 people have a huge head start): WE BEAT THE ARCHOS!!! Huawei is NEXT!

For $250, the Nook rules. :icon_ banana:

The more I think about it the crazier this seems. This isn't going to be a mass market product at this price. Do they really think the Xoom can get the type of momentum it needs to compete when there will be so many other tablets? The market is going to be crowded!
