PSX4Droid => General Discussion

In my humble opinion, droid owners have the right to know that having psx4droid doesn't necessarily mean your smooth sailing as soon as you fire up the iso's, especially stock. This isn't 16-bit emulation anymore, and without some proper tweaks you may be looking at a less than stellar gaming experience.

Yet another buzz kill, jerks...

what the above poster said about a PSX emulator not being a simple "mount the iso and play" proposition was correct, he wasn't trying to be a buzz kill. Even on a high end PC, it can be hit or miss as to what titles will work well (or even work at all, for that matter) - and then, there are a slew of configuration options to work with. The PSX uses a MIPS microprocessor, the Droid uses an ARM. It's pretty tough to emulate a 32-bit RISC architechture on a completely different CPU as the MIPS essentially has to be recreated in software.

As long as Gran Turismo 2 works well on it, i'll be happy.

A little over a year ago I had FF7 running decently well on my HTC Touch Pro in what I believed to be 640x480 resolution. This was with windows mobile 6.5. I have been increasingly impressed with the speed / cpu / gpu of the moto droid and hold high hopes for at least a handful of games and mostly RPG's to run ~30 fps.

The GBA, SNES emulators provide a fully playable experience, even at a stock to 800mhz clockspeed. Some of these newer 3d and Gameloft games impress as well as running quake 3 at a very playable framerate (grrr controls tho).

Been waiting on this emulator since I purchased my droid a few months ago, constantly checking this thread for news or screenshots / pics. Comeon give us a alpha or beta build! Something to hold us over till the production version is ready.

JHankG hit it right on the nail... tis my first forum... and if by all means, if this is how a forum suppose to be, then completely disregard my statement.. I'll just have to get use to the pit of my stomache... sorry for trolling

im in deep contact with zodttd, one of the two devs of this emu. i write everytime all news i get from him. today i will talk with him again. but yes ... some posts are really spam in this thread. so please back to topic. or i have to delete some posts (im not only news team member also moderator here). posts like "i cant wait" or "when will it be release?" again and again are really anoying. if there are some news, you can be sure i will tell ya. greets.

With all due respect, I think a big reason for all the "spam" posts is that the thread title is completely misleading. This thread was created in the beginning of April, and says "almost DONE!!" - I don't know what some people's definition of "almost DONE" is, but the amount of time that has passes shows that this clearly wasn't the case. Perhaps, the thread title should be changed to "Playstation Emulator in Development"

Back on topic, is this emulator going to include a BIOS file, or will it be like the GBA emulator where it needs to be downloaded seperately?

thats a very good idea thank you very much. i will rename the thread right now. i hadn´t create the thread. max sure thought yon´s work would be finnished soon. but it´s harder then both yong and zod thought. and beside the psx emu both have to do wih other projects. the bios file question is a good one. will ask zod today. i felt a bit ill yesterday so i was early in my bed and hadn´t contact zod. will ask him later.

Just got another email from yong. About a release date he said that hesalmost positive that we will see the emulator before the end of the month
